Ranelle Margarette R. Bagnas, Yanna Chloe Ysabel T. Feraer, and Janine Andrea A. Quiambao of De La Salle University Integrated School Senior High School, under the supervision of their research adviser, Dr. Madelene Sta. Maria of the Psychology Department of De La Salle University, Manila, examined ghosting as a dissolution strategy in romantic relationships as perceived by senior high school students.
Their study revealed that the ghosting experience impacted the students' views toward it. There was also variation in terms of the male and female experiences of ghosting, and the experience itself has influenced them both psychologically and physically.
This local study on ghosting is indispensable in the growing body of scholarship on ghosting as it attempts to shed light on the possible cultural differences of the ghosting phenomenon as it transpires and is experienced in varied cultural contexts.

To keep abreast with the recent trends in copyediting practices in the Philippine context, Sinaya, the Philippine pioneer journal for senior high school students and educators, held a virtual workshop today, April 24, 2024, that aimed to fortify its editorial practices and processes further.
Dr. Jem R. Javier, an associate professor from the Department of Linguistics of the University of the Philippines (UP) and Editor-in-Chief of The Archive: A Journal Dedicated to the Study of Philippine Languages and Dialects, served as the guest speaker for this insightful activity dubbed as โSinaya Workshop Series #4: Ensuring Manuscript Quality through Strategic Copyediting and Proofreading.โ
Drawing upon his intensive experience of being an editor, copyeditor, and reviewer of some reputable journals, Dr. Javier assisted the Sinaya Editorial Board in reconceptualizing and refining the current journalโs house style by rethinking the existing conventions and practices.
Apart from the Sinaya editors and advisory board members, the editors of Dalumat Journal, and some research teachers from the three La Salle Schools, De La Salle Lipa, De La Salle Zobel, and De La Salle University, attended the workshop.
It is hoped that activities such as this will place the journal on a more prestigious pedestal in the realm of publishing as it consistently adheres to world-class editorial standards.

The pathway to success for the Philippine premier and pioneer journal for senior high school teachers and students is further defined as Sinaya Journal held on March 21, 2024, its second editorial and advisory board membersโ meeting for this year.
The virtual meeting served as a worthwhile avenue where the recent milestones of the journal were celebrated, such as its recent inclusion in the Andrew Gonzalez Philippine Citation Index (AGPCI), which can be argued to be the first citation database for scholarly journals in the country.
Sinaya Journal Founding Editor-in-Chief and the Chair of the DLSU Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Mr. Christian P. Gopez, presided over the meeting, where he illustrated the revised journal article template and the new evaluation tools for both Sinaya reviewers and editors alongside the giving of updates regarding the current status of manuscript submissions.
Moreover, the plan to hold another workshop in April of this year was discussed as well, which will zero in on more efficient, effective, and time-tested copyediting strategies and other best editorial and publication practices.
The journalโs managing editors, associate editors, copyeditors, and advisory board members were present at the meeting and gained a more precise direction and deeper understanding of the journalโs enhanced editorial processes and strategic plans of action.

Gradually carving its prestige in Philippine journal publications, Sinaya has recently been indexed in the countryโs pioneer journal indexing and citation database, the Andrew Gonzalez Philippine Citation Index (AGPCI).
This milestone exemplifies the strong commitment of the flagship journal for senior high school students and educators to become the countryโs exemplar of excellent journal publication in basic education.
AGCPI, according to its website, aims to help local journals enhance their quality and obtain international accreditation. The project is named after Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC, who was said to be the first Filipino to advocate for a research university.
This achievement is another feather added to the journalโs cap since it has also earned its ISSN and assigned all its articles DOIs or Direct Object Identifiers. Moving forward, Sinaya aims to attain more significant milestones as it gears up for its submission to the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), a database โdesigned and set up to index all the bibliographic records and the citations of all quality ASEAN research outputs appeared in the ASEAN scholarly journals.โ

Reaffirming its strong commitment to excellent journal publication practices and policies, Sinaya held its Annual Program Evaluation and Planning today, January 6, 2024, at the Hilton Manila Hotel in Newport, Pasay City.
This yearly planning session serves as a critical space where the Sinaya editorial team and advisory board members celebrate the journalโs significant milestones and accomplishments and flesh out specific measures and strategies to delineate the journalโs onward trajectory.
Dr. Analiza D. Resurreccion, the De La Salle Lipa Research Development and Linkages Officer and one of Sinayaโs founding editors, began the program by looking back on the journalโs humble beginnings. Meanwhile, Dr. Feorillo A. Demeterio III, the Executive Director of the De La Salle University Research and Grants Management Office and Sinayaโs founding adviser, shared his insights on the Sinaya story, emphasizing the pivotal role of this pioneering journal in serving as the countryโs exemplar of excellent journal publication for other senior high schools and basic education institutions.
Sinayaโs founding Editor-in-Chief and the Chair of the De La Salle University Humanities and Social Sciences Department, Mr. Christian P. Gopez, presented the strategies the journal has employed in attaining a sustainable publication for senior high schools. Mr. Gopez also led the discussion of the plans of action that the journal will pursue in the future to stay true to its vision of becoming the leading and crucial avenue for collaborative research projects of senior high school students and educators.
To provide an overview of the new and automated editorial workflow, Mr. Janeson M. Miranda, a faculty member of De La Salle University and one of Sinayaโs Managing Editors, gave the editorial team and advisory board a walkthrough of the journalโs new articles submission and management system.
The event was facilitated and hosted by Dr. Henry Leen A. Magahis, the Principal of E. Zobel Foundation Inc. and one of Sinayaโs founding editors.
With activities such as this, it is hoped that the journalโs strategic direction will be more defined and impactful in the years to come as it contributes to a vibrant research culture in basic education.

Publication of the STEM issue of the Sinaya Journal
The Sinaya Journal takes pride in completing its first publication for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). This attests that even with the limitations of the new normal, through hard work, dedication, and persistence, this masterpiece is achievable.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
Volume 01, Issue 02 (2022)

Showcasing various practical means of addressing problems commonly encountered in the Philippines, this STEM issue features seven significant research works. The first article reviewed some recent advances in density separation techniques for microplastic recovery from sediments. The second article developed and validated a home hazard and disaster awareness game which the authors called โHazard OโClockโ. The third article compared the effectiveness of coconut water as a rooting hormone in a hydroponic and a conventional setup in growing basil. The fourth paper investigated the impact of self-agitating anaerobic batch digester in biogas production of cattle manure co-digested with Lemna minor. The fifth paper explored various colors of light emitting diodes in vertical farms for tomatoes. The sixth paper utilized carrot peels and rice as alternative materials to produce paper. Lastly, the seventh paper tested bio-briquettes made from Musa acuminata Colla, Musa acuminata, and Musa balbisiana silk, and Citrus reticulata and Citrus sinensis peels. The editors are hopeful that these works would serve as groundwork for future research endeavors.
We would like to send our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to our Lasallian Administrators for their support in our shared commitment of providing a dissemination platform to our young researchers, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs. May they never tire of supporting the initiatives of the Editorial and Advisory Board of the Sinaya Journal.

THE BIRTH OF THE SINAYA JOURNAL: THE MAIDEN ISSUE FOR AN AUSPICIOUS BEGINNING
Just like a mother giving birth to a child, the maiden issue of the Sinaya Journal is never without a long throbbing labor. After the arduous process of collaborating, reviewing, and editing, the very first issue for humanities, social sciences, and the arts of this brainchild of three La Salle SchoolsโDe La Salle University Integrated School, De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, and De La Salle Lipaโis finally published online.
This inaugural issue highlights the collaboration of senior high school students and teachers in cultivating a dynamic culture of research in basic education. It features a diverse array of six articles, which offers new perspectives on ghosting, priming and composite faces, feline confinement, social media beauty influencers, Muslim modesty, and bibliotherapy.
Certainly, this maiden issue ushers us to a new auspicious beginning of a more synergistic scholarly partnerships and teamwork between and among senior high school stakeholders. This herculean feat is made possible through the support of the many people who indefatigably and selflessly rendered services in the entire process of publication.
Thus, we extend our profound thanks to the Sinaya Journal Advisory and Editorial Board who were primarily at the helm of all the publication stages; to our esteemed pool of experts who meticulously reviewed the manuscripts; to our ever able administrators who helped lay the groundwork for this endeavor; to all the senior high school students and teachers who submitted their papers to the Journal; and most importantly, to all the authors of the six interesting articles included in this maiden issue.
This is the beginning of a new journey. This is for our country!
