Learning can cross borders without leaving the classroom.

Last July 31, 2026, Benildean educators gathered at The Faculty Lounge, 6th Floor, AKIC to explore how Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) can bring global learning experiences into the Benilde classroom.

Through meaningful conversations and shared practices, faculty exchanged ideas on creating more connected, collaborative, and globally connected learning experiences.

We would also like to thank our speakers for sharing their experiences and insights. Mr. Francis Tady, Full-time Faculty of AB Photography, shared his COIL journey, classroom implementation, student engagement, challenges, and insights as part of the Faculty Sharing: Benilde Experience. Dr. Carl Lorenz Canlas, Ph.D., contributed an International Partner Sharing, offering perspectives from his COIL experience and cross-cultural collaboration.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this meaningful learning experience!

"Strong curricula are not created in isolation... they are built through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to student success."

The Benilde School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT) successfully conducted the SMIT Curriculum Summit 2026 on August 5, 2026, at the Predator Lab, The Atrium Campus. An initiative of SMIT-Analytics, Computing and Information Technology (ACI) and the Office of the Dean, the summit gathered Program Chairpersons and faculty representatives to discuss the future direction of SMIT. The program featured the presentation of the SMIT Mandate by Dr. Joan Diñoso, Dean of SMIT, followed by the presentation of the Cluster Directions by the Associate Deans. These served as the foundation for the review and alignment of Program Goals and Program Outcomes with PQF Level 6, the presentation of the revised OBEnilde Syllabi, and discussions on the submission of curriculum documents.

The Center for Faculty Advancement (CFAd) - Curriculum Unit was honored to facilitate the summit, with the curriculum sessions spearheaded by Dr. Basilia Blay, together with Dr. Carlo Jay A. Evardone. Through meaningful dialogue and collaboration, the summit reaffirmed SMIT's commitment to developing future-ready, outcomes-based curricula.

Our sincere appreciation to Dr. Joan Diñoso, Dr. Cathie Mojado, Mr. Peter Lemuel Cayayan, and all the Program Chairpersons and faculty members for making this collaborative initiative a success.

Meaningful conversations over lunch, shared experiences, and fresh perspectives on classroom evaluation.

During Advancing Classroom Experience (ACE) with AI: A Green (Lunch) Bag Learning Session on Classroom Evaluation, Benildean educators gathered over lunch to exchange best practices, reflect on their approaches to evaluating student learning, and explore how AI can support assessment while keeping human judgment at the center of every decision.

More than a learning session, it became a space for meaningful dialogue where faculty members learned from one another, discovered practical ways to integrate AI into evaluation, and reaffirmed that while AI can support the process, educators remain at the heart of meaningful learning.

Thank you to all our Benildean educators for making this Green (Lunch) Bag Learning Session an inspiring afternoon of collaboration, reflection, and shared learning.

The Benildean Associates came together last July 17 for Wired Differently: Navigating Difficult Conversations, a hands-on workshop that equipped participants with practical coaching tools to better understand themselves, communicate with others, and navigate challenging conversations with confidence and empathy.

The CFAd – Instruction Unit and the People & Organization Development Office (PODO) would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Andrae Wilde for facilitating the workshop. His expertise, insights, and engaging facilitation empowered the Benildean Associates with practical coaching tools to navigate difficult conversations with confidence, empathy, and purpose.

Here's to creating more meaningful conversations and stronger connections across our Benilde community.
