Like flowers blossoming in the wonderful spring, knowledge is truly in the air as PUP JPIA Manila successfully concludes the third installment of its much-awaited learning event, the โ€œPUP JPIA Review S5: Ephemeral Blossom of Knowledge," which has been conducted gracefully on March 24-27, 2026, at the P&A Grant Thornton Conference Room beside E500 in the Main Academic Building, with a live online session also available via MS Teams.

With its aim to help every JPIAn rise with confidence for the upcoming Midterm Departmental Examinations (2nd semester, A.Y. 2025โ€“2026), this event was made possible by the organizationโ€™s esteemed officers, together with our benevolent sponsors and brilliant guest speakers from the REO CPA Review Center.

On March 24, Tuesday marks the first day of the wonderful event, starting with a solemn opening ceremony and greetings from the organizationโ€™s adviser, Sir Mark Anecito B. Perlas, and the lecture speaker, Sir Vhinson Garcia. But good things come for those who wait, as the first review session started on the 2nd day, March 25, Wednesday, with the topic of โ€œIntermediate Accounting 1/ACCO 102" headed by an esteemed special lecturer, Mr. Dencel Hans Lumboy, CPA, starting from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Many essential topics about the subject were discussed, such as โ€œCash and Cash Equivalentsโ€ and "Receivables," using them as inputs for journal entries and creating different statements such as โ€œBank Reconciliation Statementโ€ and โ€œProof of Cash."

Hence, on the second day of this wonderful event, the subject โ€œAccounting for Special Transactions/ACCO 206โ€ is also discussed by a brilliant speaker, Ms. Dyan Nicole M. Fransisco, CPA, MBA, US CMA, with many essential topics about the subject being tackled, such as โ€œAccounting for Partnership Formation, Operation, and Dissolutionโ€ and โ€œAccounting for Partnership Liquidation," respectively, at the same timeslot. Meanwhile, the last part is truly not the least, as on the third day, Friday, the last day of the review session, โ€œBusiness Taxation" is conducted with an excellent guest speaker, Mr. Christian Andrei Utanes, CPA, MBA, heading the JPIAns in this study. Topics such as โ€œBusiness Income and Expensesโ€ and โ€œTax Planning Strategiesโ€ are being tackled to great effect in order to give participants new knowledge about this matter.

Blooming so ephemeral, the successful conclusion of the PUP JPIA Review S5 shows that the JPIANโ€™s quest for knowledge was always present, and through the unwavering efforts of the organizers and the participants' eagerness to learn new things about accounting, discussions like these will always be fruitful and beneficial for everyone. As this event has ended, let it serve as a reminder that it will return in its season, like flowers blossoming once again in the wonderful spring. Padayon, JPIANs!
