The Biological Sciences Department joined the CEU Science Clubโs tree planting event, โGaiaโs Gift: Planting for a Greener Earth, Rooted in Sustainability,โ held on October 11, 2025 at the Payatas Controlled Disposal Facility.
In collaboration with CEU COMPASS SciTech Chapter, CEU Photographers Club, QC Parks Office, and the Bureau of Plant Industry, the CEU community came together to make the world a little greener and a lot brighter!
With the amazing leadership and support of Mr. John Jacob Uy (CEU Science Club Adviser) and Dr. Marilou Lanto (CEU COMPASS-SciTech Chapter Adviser), Ms. Faith Baldisimo (Overall Student Chairperson), together with the BioSci representatives: Ms. Rissa Lasap & Mr. Jerwin Fabrero (Faculty Members); Mrs. Elaine Borromeo (Department Secretary); and Ms. Michelle Lapitan, Mr. Aouie Bonifacio, & Mr. James Emmanuel Manapsal (Laboratory Technicians) โ the event bloomed with teamwork, passion, and purpose.

Congratulations to Mr. Ron Richard S. Callera on his latest research publication!
His study, โArtificial Intelligence Embedded in Medical Research Education: Instructional Challenges, Strategies, and Practices,โ has been published in the International Journal for Multidisciplinary Research.
The research examines how medical faculty members integrate AI into research education, revealing challenges such as limited technical skills, lack of standardized resources, and varying student readiness. It also highlights effective strategies like collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching, experiential learning, and adaptive technologies.
The study proposes a model for AI integration that emphasizes continuous professional development, innovative teaching practices, and strong institutional support, offering valuable guidance for faculty, administrators, and policymakers navigating AI in research education.

The Biological Sciences Department proudly congratulates the CEU Bio-Micro Team for achieving 2nd Runner-Up at the Philippine Microbiology Olympiad (PhilMO) 2025 โ National Championship held on August 27 at UST!
Composed of Faith M. Pacia, Jose Gabriel P. Nery, Robin A. Caparanga, and Miguel Manuel P. Aquino, with the guidance of their mentor, Mr. John Hermie Paul S. Cerezo, RMicro, the team showcased Escolarian excellence and made CEU the only university from Luzon and the Visayas to secure a podium finish this year.
We applaud the teamโs dedication and celebrate their well-deserved success on the national stage. Your dedication, brilliance, and passion have brought great pride to CEU and inspired fellow Escolarians to aim higher in the sciences.
