Official Statement Regarding the Cancellation or Postponement of “Moral Twilight” (the local ethics bowl of PCU)

The Philosophical Association of PCU (PAPCU) had to either permanently cancel or postpone to a later date the local ethics bowl they organized. This decision was reached around 8pm of Monday, December 2, 2013.

The primary reason for this decision is because not enough colleges were sending their delegates to the said event. On the night of the decision, only one college has confirmed for the event. All others have not confirmed.

The organizer of this event had a pre-registration date of on or before 6pm of Friday, November 29, 2013. Only one college complied with this pre-registration date. The “registration period” was already extended by 3 days up to December 2, 2013, Monday, 7:30pm, still no new delegates were registered.

It is the strong opinion of the organizer that enough time was given to the various colleges for them to prepare and select their delegates; as as early as Thursday, November 21, 2013, the Letters of Invitation, the Rules & Mechanics, the Cases & the Program were sent out.

The organizer also strongly believes that there was enough effort exerted in preparing for everything in the event, including but not limited to: inviting Street Dance Crew to do the Intermission, working on the certificates, creating the slide presentations, finding judges, working on the tickets, working on the certificates of appreciation for judges, working on the certificates of recognition for winners, downloading count-down clock for Power Point Presentations, soliciting funds from 2 offices and many many more.

***

The organizer of this event would like to formally apologize to those who got dismayed that the event got cancelled or postponed. To the concerned individuals like Street Dance Crew who has been practicing their dance number just to perform our intermission; to the external judge who we bothered; & etc.

***

The organizer of this event would like to thank all those who were cooperative. For example, some of the College Council Governors were really responsive to my text messages; PAPCU’s President, Org Adviser, the Dept. Head of the Philosophy Department & the IPRS Director who were always there for their signatures in my various letters; to those who volunteered to fill up the roles for this event (people like volunteer MC’s, volunteer registration personell, volunteer to buy the food & etc.); to PAPCU’s artist who created 3 different versions of our teaser/online-poster; & etc.

***

We will update you in case we will just postpone the event and not cancel it permanently. PAPCU and the organizer for Moral Twilight wishes for your understanding.
