From one national qualifier last year, the City of Mandaluyong Science High School (CMSHS) finished stronger at this year's Regional Science and Technology Fair (RSTF) after earning four best projects qualifying to the national level and a total of eight special awards.

Hosted by the Division of Manila, the regional three-day event carried the theme “Powering the Future Through Science and Innovation,” held at Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School, Nov. 6-8.

4 𝙉𝙎𝙏𝙁 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨

The four research projects advancing to the National Science and Technology Fair (NSTF) include three team entries—Physical Science, Mathematics and Computational Sciences, and STEM Innovation Expo—each with three members, as well as one individual entry in the STEM Innovation Expo category.

Under the supervision of research teacher Crizel Peligrino, the Physical Science Team of Leanne Samantha Angeles, Loren Joyce Doydora, and Rhayanna Grey Jumawid clinched the 1st Place for Best Project and Best Presenter, respectively.

Likewise, the STEM Innovation Expo composed of team members Shaia Gabriel Meras, Leena Napoles, and Samuel Tan achieved 1st Place Best Project, still under the mentorship of Peligrino.

In Mathematics and Computational Sciences (Team), Juliana Ysabel Baun, Arianne May Obungen, and Samuel Gabriel Vasquez also sealed the 1st Place Best Project and Best Presenter with the guidance of Math teacher John Francis Cultura.

Moreover, in the STEM Innovation Expo individual category, Jesson Peña bagged 1st Place Best Project, The Sustainability and Equity Award, and 3rd Place Best Display Board, coached by Cultura.

𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨

On top of the national qualifiers, other CMSHS participants received multiple recognitions in different categories.

In Life Science team, Lance Bartolome, Francheska Marie Canon, and Hanna Salvo received the Lourdes Choice Award, 4th Place Best Project, and 5th Place Best Display Board.

In Robotics and Intelligent Machines individual, Eros Jeremiel Piano placed 5th Best Display Board while in Mathematics and Computational Sciences, Jet Inventor secured 5th Place Best Display Board.

CMSHS also received the 1st Best Poster as a special award.

Prior to the national fair to be held March next year, the four qualifying projects are scheduled for another round of cliniquing in Marikina City.
