WEST PACIFIC TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK | Valid until 2 pm Wednesday, August 12 or until the next update

🌀DOLPHIN is now considered a remnant LOW and is no longer a Tropical Cyclone and will dissipate in the next 24 hours over Eastern China.

🌀CHAN-HOM has reached Severe Tropical Storm status as it has now made landfall over Northern Honshu island in Japan with winds of 93 km/h and gusting up to 130 km/h, moving West at 20 km/h

🌀Tropical Storm PEILOU (regenerated from the remnants of Luis-Maymay or Kujira), located north of the Marianas Islands with winds of 93 km/h and gusting up to 130 km/h is tracking to the Northeast away from any landmass.

🌀Tropical Depression FIFTEEN, located to the east of PEILOU, is also tracking to the northeast. 15W has max winds of 55 km/h

🌀 A new Tropical Depression has formed from a Low Pressure Area (Invest 91W) located east of extreme Northern Luzon per the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). DOST-PAGASA has the system as a LPA but with HIGH probability of becoming a Tropical Cyclone within 24 Hours. This system is expected to move eastward and will not enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

👀Note: All above systems mentioned are part of a LARGE MONSOON GYRE, a large-scale weather system consisting of several Low Pressure systems rotating within a central point and is part of the seasonal monsoonal flow. This system is enhancing the Southwest Monsoon over the western section of the Philippines, causing rain over these areas.

🔄Another Low Pressure Area (Invest 90W) located in the Marshall Islands is being tracked for possible development as it moves west, outside the monsoon gyre.

☔️ The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is now in full form (so to speak) as heavy rainfall has been reported in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region and Western Visayas including Palawan.

WEST PACIFIC TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK | Valid until 2 am Sunday, August 9 or until the next update

🌀 Very Strong Typhoon DOLPHIN is now in the East China Sea approaching the Eastern Chinese coast with winds reaching 157 km/h with gusts of 222 km/h as it moves West-Northwest at 20 km/h. It is expected to reach the East coast of Mainland China tomorrow morning after traveling over 5600 to 5800 km across the Western Pacific. DOLPHIN stands as the farthest-east-forming typhoon on record since 1951 to cross the Pacific and make landfall on mainland China while maintaining typhoon-level intensity.

🌀 Tropical Storm CHAN-HOM has winds reaching 65 km/h with gusts of 80 km/h and is moving West-Northwest at 30 km/h. It is located east of Honshu Island off Japan and may reach Northern Honshu by Tuesday or Wednesday next week

🔄 The remnants of MAYMAY (Luis/Kujira) is moving Northeast and may briefly re-intensify as a Tropical Depression within the next 24-48 hours, is located south of Iwo Jima.

🔄 LPA INVEST 97W, located in the Gulf of Tonkin -- close to Hainan Island, has been considered as a Tropical Depression by the Vietnamese weather agency. They forecast it to move to the Southeast.

🔄 LPA INVEST 98W, located over the Northern Islands of the Marianas Chain, is forecast to become another Tropical Depression by the JMA in the next 24-48 hours.

🔄 Another Low Pressure Area formed in the West-Central Pacific near 175E, per the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). It is forecast to move west, and no changes seen in the next 48 hours.

👀 All these tropical systems are conjoined by a induced and highly-active MONSOON TROUGH bringing Southwesterly winds and rain to the Western seaboard of the Philippines.

📢 Rainfall warnings have been issued by the Regional branches of PAGASA for Northern Luzon, NCR region, Bicol and the Visayas.

🔄...newly designated Low Pressure Area INVEST 98W located near to the Northwest of the Northern Marianas Islands. Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) predicts it to become a Tropical Depression within the next 24 to 48 hours.

🌀Tropical Depression MAYMAY is now over the Philippine Sea and is being dragged to the east by Typhoon DOLPHIN and a developing monsoon low over the Marianas. It is set to be absorbed by any of the two other systems

🌀Typhoon DOLPHIN is now bearing down on Okinawa, Japan and is set to pass close to the island later this morning. TY Dolphin has peak winds of 148 km/h with gusts reaching 203 km/h, and is tracking to the West at 20 km/h.

🌀Tropical Storm CHAN-HOM has formed in the open Western Pacific and could track close to Hokkaido and Northern Honshu islands of Japan... no threat to any Asian landmass.

🔄A developing monsoonal low is seen near the Northern Marianas Islands and may consolidate into a Tropical Depression within the next 3 days.

All these systems are joined together by a Monsoon Trough and cause the enhancement of the Southwest Monsoon in the Philippines over the next few days.
