On September 11, 2026, the Criminal Justice Student Society (CJSS) of Josรฉ Rizal University, led by Prof. Joel A. Agtarap, The Adviser of Criminal Justice Student Society, together with selected outgoing CJSS officers, selected incoming CJSS officers, and Mr. Arvin James Silverio, Staff of the Community Development Office, conducted a meaningful visitationโthe first visitation for this academic yearโat the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). The visit provided an opportunity to connect with Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and extend support through a simple yet purposeful outreach activity.
Beyond the games, music, conversations, and distribution of basic necessities and snacks, the activity aimed to bring hope, compassion, and encouragement to PDLs as they work toward positive change and eventual reintegration into society. This experience reminded our student leaders that criminal justice is not only about enforcing laws, but also about rehabilitation, dignity, compassion, and giving individuals an opportunity to rebuild their lives.
As future professionals in the field of criminal justice, the CJSS continues to uphold the values of service and humanity by learning beyond the classroom and supporting initiatives that promote rehabilitation and positive change. Together, let us continue to build hope, strengthen communities, and contribute to a safer and more compassionate society.
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this initiative contributes to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by recognizing the dignity and potential of every individual, regardless of their circumstances. Through service, compassion, and meaningful engagement, the CJSS joins the collective effort toward a more just, inclusive, and peaceful society.
Together, let us continue to promote hope, service, and positive change. ๐
