Emmaus Bible Institute (formerly Emmaus Bible School) is an Educational ministry of CMPI Tinawag itong Emmaus Bible Camp. Isa sa pangarap ni Mr. I.
Brief History of Emmaus Bible Institute
Rationale
Ang sagot ni Mr. Cyril Brookes nang tanungin sya kung bakit kailangan pa ng kapatiran na magkaroon ng sariling Bible School ay "there are many good Bible School and seminaries in the Philippines. However, whether denominational or nondenominational, they are not in a position to teach New Testament truth as we understand it."
2 Timoteo 2:15 RTPV05

SINCE EBI IS AN EDUCATIONAL MINISTRY OF CMPI, EBI ADOPTS CHRISTIAN MISSIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES STATEMENT OF FAITH
Revised 2000
Christian Missions in the Philippines (CMPI) is a service organization for local assemblies affiliated with it, not a denominational headquarters. Local churches and individuals that affiliate with CMPI recognize their common faith in the LORD JESUS CHRIST and His Word. We believe the Word of God is the basis for our beliefs, doctrines, and practices. This statement of faith composed of (A) Fundamental Doctrines and (B) Other Important Doctrine seeks to clarify and affirm the following truths:
A. FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINES
I. THE BIBLE
We believe that every Word in the original writings of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments is inspired of God, without error, infallible, and is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are the one God: the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
*(Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 4:24; 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
III. GOD THE FATHER
We believe that the Father is fully God, that His Fatherhood is perfect, holy, eternal and personal and that He is the loving Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and of all who trust Christ as Lord and Savior.
*(Matthew 5:48; John 1:18; 3:16; Galatians 4:4-7; 1 Corinthians 1:3; 1 John 3:1; 4:8)
IV. GOD THE SON
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully Man; that He was born of a virgin; that He is sinless and incapable of sinning; that He died as a substitute and perfect sacrifice for sinners. He raised bodily form the dead and ascended in His glorified body to the right hand of God the Father where He now ministers as our Great High Priest prior to His promised return. He is the only Savior, and the one Mediator between God and men.
*(Mathew 1:21-23; John 1:1,14; Acts 4:10-12; 1 Timothy 2:5; Titus 2:5; Hebrews1:8; 4:14-15, 7:24-8:1; 1 Peter 3:18)
V. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God; that glorifies Christ, and always works in harmony with the Word of God, of which He is the Author. He convicts the sinner. He regenerates, baptizes, seals, and indwells all true believers at the moment of conversion. He comforts, guides and empowers the believer throughout his life. Every Christians is commended to be filled with the Spirit.
We believe that the man was created in the image of God. The first man, Adam, was an innocent being enjoying communion with God. He subsequently sinned and as head of the human race passed on a sinful nature to all mankind. All men are sinners by nature and practice, and apart from receiving God’s salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, are spiritually dead, lost and will suffer everlasting conscious punishment.
*(Genesis 1:26-27; Matthew 13:42, 25:26; Mark 9:43-48; Luke 16:19-26; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-10;
We believe that salvation is by the grace of God, and purchased by the blood of Christ, who died as the propitiation for the sins of the whole world. Salvation is offered to all mankind, and is appropriated through faith apart from good works. God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility are involved together in the process of salvation. All who repent and trust Christ as their Lord and Savior are born again and are eternally secure.
We believe that the Universal Church is made up of all true believers in Christ, both Jew and Gentile. It began on the day of Pentecost and is distinct from Israel. Each Local assembly should be an expression of the universal church. We believe that the local church is central in God’s plan for evangelism, teaching, discipline-making, worship and fellowship. Each local assembly answers to Christ alone, as its Head, and should be pastured by a number of godly men in the church who recognized as elders and oversee the spiritual welfare of the assembly.
We believe that there are only two ordinances of the church:
1) Baptism by immersion, symbolizing the believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection to walk in newness of life.
2) The Lord’s Supper which is an essential part to our worship, carried out in remembrance of Him. The bread and the cup symbolize His body and blood. In the Lord’s Supper, as believer priest, we proclaim His death until His return.
*(Matthews 28:19-20; Luke 22:19-20; Acts 8:36-39, 20:7; Romans 6:1-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32; 1 Peter 2:5-9)
III. THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS
We believe that the Holy Spirit sovereignty gives spiritual gifts to equip every believer for service towards the growth of the church. Some gifts such as apostleship, prophecy, miracles, tongues, interpretation of tongues and healing, were largely limited in their significance to the foundational and traditional phrase of the church, and are not normative today.
We believe that men and women are equal as far as standing before God is concerned: “there is neither male nor female”. We encourage brothers and sisters to serve the Lord to the fullest, while recognizing definite Scriptural distinctions between the God-given roles of men and women. Men have been given the responsibility of spiritual leadership. While recognizing the very valuable role of godly sisters we believe the New Testament teaches that in spiritual matters women are not to publicly teach or exercise authority over men.
*(Galatians 3:28; Romans 16:1-2; 1 Corinthians 11:1-16; 14:34-37; 1 Timothy 2:9-15; Titus 2:1-5; 1 Peter 3:1-7)
V. THE FUTURE EVENTS
We believe in their personal imminent return of the LORD JESUS CHRIST at an unknown time and date in which the Church, His body, will be raptured or caught up by Him into heaven before the Tribulation. After the Tribulation, Christ will return with His saints to reign on earth for thousands years. Following this millennial period will be the resurrection and judgment of the lost, resulting in their eternal conscious punishment. The saved will have already entered into eternal blessedness.
*(Matthew 24:3-44; Luke 16:19-26; John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9;
Revelation 14:9-11, 20:1-21:8; Jeremiah 30:7; Daniel 9:24-27)
VI. THE FINANCES
We look to Christ in faith to supply the needs for His work through His people. Giving is to be done in love, not under compulsion, proportionately, as God prospers us, as a regular part of worship. While bearing one another’s burdens in meeting needs among God’s people we do not encourage solicitation of funds from unbelievers. As steward we desire to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness in the use of all that He has entrusted to us.
Christian Missions in the Philippines, Inc. Ang mga SINASAMPALATAYANAN
(Mat.6:33; 1 Cor. 4:1-2, 13:3, 16:1-4; 2 Cor.8-9, Gal. 6:6; Fil. 4:17-19; 1 Tim. 5:17-18; 3 Jn. 7)

[3] And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. [4] Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
Thanks and God bless us all.

Tatang Alviar
From the book Grace Triumphant by Cyril Brooks
Zaccheus overcame the difficulty of his short stature by climbing a tree. Stimson Alviar may have climbed some trees, too; I don’t know. But I do know he has overcome the problem of his short stature in other ways. In his unsaved days he was a boxer, featherweight probably, and also took care of riding horses for a wealthy landowner! Perhaps his slight build made him look like a jockey! These days Stimson is senior among the national workers and highly respected and beloved by his fellow workers and other Christians. They call him “Tatang” (Daddy) a term of both respect and affection. He was commended to the work of the Lord by the assemblies in San Juan and in Pampanga. His growth in grace and knowledge has been aided by his study of many of the Emmaus courses obtained through the Bible School of the Air. Much of his labor for the Lord has been in his native province of Pampanga where he and his wife make their home. They have five children, and the eldest son and his wife are also devoting themselves to the Lord’s work caring for an orphanage under the auspices of the Philippine Faith Mission. While Stimson is a short man, almost hidden behind the pulpit when he preaches in San Juan, there is a power in his preaching. Stimson has helped in teaching at Christian Training Camp and Bible school, but most of his ministry has been in establishing and building up small local churches in different places in Central Luzon. This has involved a lot of traveling and being away from home.

"Early in 1950 we were still praying for the Lord’s guidance. We felt strongly inclined towards a radio ministry of Bible teaching. It was then that Emmaus Bible School sent us a copy of their new course “What The Bible Teaches.” In twelve simple lessons this course presents some basic Bible truths along with a clear presentation of the truth of the Gospel. Upon reading this course, the Lord’s leading seemed to crystallize. We would have a program of simple Bible teaching and offer this course for home study. We would combine the ideas of a radio program and a correspondence course." -Cyril Brooks (founder: Emmaus Philippines)
Congratulations Emmaus Philippines (Formerly Bible School of the Air) on your 75th year anniversary. God bless you more!
