Chosen Korean Class 조선 어학당 We are Church-Based Educational Organization offering FREE KOREAN CLASSES to all. We do not force you to join these activities. Then the tuition is already paid.

Why Are You "조선 어학당(Chosen Korean Class)?"

We call it 조선(Joseon), but write it as "Chosen!"
조선(Joseon) was the name of Korean dynastic kingdom that lasted for approximately five centuries(1392-1897). At that time, western missionaries used to call this kingdom “Chosen,” believing God had chosen this small kingdom in Asia. And now, we believe God has chosen you and us to be here together according to His master plan. And the gathering of God's chosen people, that is CKC, Chosen Korean Class, 조선 어학당. Church-Based Educational Missionary Group
We are a Protestant Church-Based Educational Missionary Group. The ultimate purpose of this educational ministry is to share the Gospel by teaching Korean. So, we not only study Korean but also do other activities such as Bible study and cell group gatherings according to our purpose. You may feel free to join only the class or all activities we provide.

“Freely you have received; freely give”
CKC provides a free Korean class because Seungcheon Hong, the senior teacher, and founder of CKC, believes that all resources for teaching, such as language skills, are given from God for free. He was born and raised in Korea, so he speaks Korean as a native speaker. Although he made a little effort to pick up English, God has given him more, he says.
“What is given freely gives freely!”

This is the MOTTO of CKC, and how it has begun. Do you want to study Korean because you love Korean dramas, movies or K-pop? Do you want to study Korean to travel, study or work in Korea, or change your career or life? Whatever your reason, if you are already passionate about studying Korean, that is all you need to register for the class! please freely receive what we are giving you! And please learn the love of Jesus! And one day, please freely give what you have received!

“스벅 갔다가 올영 갈래?” 😳
Wait… WHAT?! 😂 If you’re reading Korean messages and suddenly see words like 스벅, 맥날, 베라, or 올영, don’t panic!

Koreans LOVE shortening words—including famous brand names! 🇰🇷✨

☕ 스벅 (seubeok) = Starbucks
🍔 맥날 (maengnal) = McDonald’s
📱 페북 (pebuk) = Facebook
🍦 베라 (bera) = Baskin-Robbins
💄 올영 (ollyeong) = Olive Young

So when your Korean friend says:

👉 “스벅 갔다가 올영 갈래?”
(seubeok gattaga ollyeong gallae?)

It simply means:
“Want to go to Starbucks and then Olive Young?” 😂

Now you know the secret! 🤫🇰🇷

Why does Korea have so many steep roads?

Because about 70% of South Korea is covered by mountains! ⛰️

That's why it's normal to see uphill streets, long stairways, and neighborhoods built on hills. While most Koreans don't think twice about the climb, many first-time visitors are in for a surprise!

💡 Travel tip: Before booking your accommodation, check the route on Google Maps. If the bus doesn't go near it—or the walking route looks like a mountain trail—you might be climbing every day. 😆

📍 Bupyeong Modoo Mall (부평모두몰, Bupyeong Modu Mol) holds the Guinness World Record for the highest number of shops in a single underground mall!

Fun fact: I actually grew up in Incheon and used to walk through this mall all the time—I never realized my hometown was home to a Guinness World Record! 😄

🛍️ From my personal experience, shopping here is usually cheaper than Myeongdong.

💵 Travel tip: Bring some cash! Some stores still prefer or accept cash payments.

If you're watching K-dramas or learning Korean, you've probably heard these expressions before! 😋

🥢 1. 배고파요 (Bae-go-pa-yo) – I'm hungry.
🥢 2. 저 배고파요 (Jeo bae-go-pa-yo) – I'm hungry. (A more polite way by adding "I")
🥢 3. 너무 배고파요 (Neo-mu bae-go-pa-yo) – I'm so hungry!
