Bukidnon State University (BukSU), through its International Affairs and Linkages Unit and the Center for Peace Studies (CPS), partnered with Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia, to conduct a Training of Trainers (TOT) on Peacebuilding. The activity brought together peace educators, student leaders from the College of Education (COE) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and barangay captains from selected barangays of Malaybalay City for a day of intercultural learning and peacebuilding discussions. The program featured sessions led by Peace Generation Indonesiaโs Ahmad Afrya, Senior Trainer, and Irfan Amali, Co-Founder and Executive Director, and UMYโs Dr. Idham Badruzaman; and BukSUโs Dean of the College of Law, Atty. Ophelia Pilar E. Rubio-Zamora
Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and reflective activities, particularly during the session on the 12 Basic Values of Peace under the Peace Generation Approach. The training also addressed Indigenous Justice Systems, local peacebuilding initiatives, and youth action design through Indonesian case studies, encouraging participants to exchange perspectives and community experiences. The activity forms part of the continuing collaboration between BukSU and UMY aimed at strengthening peace education, dialogue, and sustainable community engagement through international academic partnership.

Bukidnon State University (BukSU) successfully hosted a Consultative Meeting with international partner Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on May 13, 2026, at the 4th Floor Conference Hall, Research and Extension Building, reaffirming its commitment to global academic excellence, research innovation, and international collaboration.
The engagement welcomed distinguished international partners from UMY led by Prof. Ir. Slamet Riyadi, M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Quality, Reputation, and Partnership, and Dr. Idham Badruzaman, Head of International Mobility at the Directorate of Global Partnership and Employability (DGPE).
The meeting was attended by BukSU officials including Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovations Dr. Carina Joane V. Barroso, Planning Officer, Quality Assurance Director, OVPREI directors and heads, IALU Director Dr. Rizza R. Consad, and members of the SMART BukSU Workforce.
One of the highlights of the engagement was the presentation of Prof. Slamet Riyadi on โIntegrated Quality Assurance Towards Global Reputation,โ emphasizing strategic quality assurance and internationalization initiatives toward achieving global recognition.
The activity also featured the presentation of BukSUโs Research Profile by Dr. Joan M. Recente, Director of the Research and Development Unit, followed by collaborative discussions on increasing Scopus-indexed publications, strengthening research citations, expanding international research presentations, promoting scholarship opportunities at UMY, and exploring partnerships in extension and community engagement programs.
The consultative meeting served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and partnership building, further advancing BukSUโs vision of becoming a globally engaged and internationally competitive university.

Through the Harmonized Full-Blown Proposal Development Writeshop on May 12-13, 2026, held at Philtown Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City DOST Northern Mindanao and the regional consortia continue to strengthen researchers' capacity, helping transform ideas into competitive, fundable proposals that address real-world challenges.

More than 70 researchers from across Northern Mindanao are participating in Day 1 of the Harmonized Full-Blown Proposal Writeshop, where they are receiving mentoring and technical guidance from 11 DOST and partner institutions experts.
This year, 57 concept proposals from Northern Mindanao advanced to the full-blown proposal stage for the DOST Grants-in-Aid Program under PCIEERD, PCHRD, PCAARRD, and NRCP. This is one of the highest numbers of full-blown proposals recorded in the region to date, and reflects the growing quality and competitiveness of NorMin research proposals.
Held from May 12 to 13, at Philtown Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City, the two-day activity brings together the regionโs R&D consortia to help researchers enhance their proposals for the DOST Grants-in-Aid Program. The writeshop aims to refine research ideas into well-developed proposals that meet national evaluation standards.

This activity finalizes and disseminates the findings of five Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) studies under Project ADOREE โ โAssisting Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers on Research and Extension Engagement.โ
Participating LGU offices involved in the project include the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), City Urban Development and Housing Division (CUDHO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), and the City Agriculture Office.
The researchers will present the results of the five studies to the City Mayor of Malaybalay to support evidence-based policies and programs addressing disaster preparedness, resilience, emergency response, environmental sustainability, and community safety.
Through this collaborative initiative, BukSU and the Malaybalay LGU continue to strengthen research-based governance and promote safer and This collaborative event not only strengthens research-based governance, but also marks a significant step toward equipping the city with evidence-based solutions for disaster resilience and community safety.
