The 𝐁𝐒 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 internship finishers successfully conducted their 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐮𝐦 on 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, highlighting their experiences, learnings, and realizations gained from their field immersion and community engagement. The activity served as a platform for students to reflect on their internship journey, share practical insights, and demonstrate how classroom theories were applied in real-life community settings. It also emphasized the importance of collaboration, adaptability, and people-centered approaches in addressing the diverse realities and challenges faced by communities.

One of the significant messages delivered during the activity came from the College of Arts and Sciences Dean, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐥 𝐆. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐳, who stated that, “Communities are not templates, and development is not linear.” This statement underscores the reality that every community possesses unique cultures, needs, experiences, and circumstances that require flexible, inclusive, and context-based approaches in community development practice. It further reminds internship finishers that genuine development work goes beyond technical knowledge and frameworks, requiring humility, cultural sensitivity, empathy, and meaningful engagement with people in continuously changing environments.

Through this activity, the BS Community Development Program continues to strengthen its commitment to producing socially responsive, competent, and compassionate future development practitioners who are dedicated to empowering communities and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.

In April 2026, the 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐁𝐒 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐃𝐞𝐯) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐮𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 conducted an onsite monitoring activity for student interns assigned in various 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 (𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐬) across the𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬 (𝐋𝐆𝐔𝐬) of Malaybalay City, Dangcagan, and Impasugong, including offices under the Province of Bukidnon. The activity aimed to assess the interns’ performance, workplace experiences, and overall learning progress throughout their field instruction program.

During the monitoring visits, supervisors and partner agencies shared positive feedback regarding the interns’ professionalism, dedication, adaptability, and active contribution to office operations and community-related activities. The activity also provided an avenue for meaningful dialogue between faculty coordinators, agency supervisors, and student interns to further strengthen collaboration and ensure that internship objectives and learning outcomes are effectively achieved.

Student interns likewise expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to immerse themselves in actual community development settings where they were able to enhance their practical skills, strengthen their confidence, and gain deeper insights into public service and development work. These experiences continue to prepare them in becoming competent, compassionate, and socially responsive future community development practitioners.
