After 18 long years of waiting to emerge as the overall champion of State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Region 1, the piercing buzz of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) Stingers finally deafened the thumping gallops of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) Stallions, claiming the title as 𝗦𝗖𝗨𝗔𝗔-𝟭 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

It has been a long and fierce battle, but may the feisty spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie remain among us. Again, to all of the participating State Universities Colleges, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀!

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 | DMMMSU Open University System Executive DIrector, Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, was selected and qualified for the 2024 Leadership Development Program for Higher Education Institutions (LDP-HEIs). The activity runs thru hybrid platform from March to July 2024– with onsite sessions in Bangkok, Thailand from May 6 to May 10 of this year.

Only 20-25 leaders from 22 HEIs in Southeast Asia are selected to take part in the international learning event.

The College of Graduate Studies’ Master of Arts in Language Teaching Program at DMMMSU SLUC recently hosted a MOOC Camp for Higher Education Institution (HEI) faculty members, focusing on English language teaching. This initiative, supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Office of the United States Department of State, was designed to address professional development, language proficiency, and literacy for both faculty and the local community.

Indeed a glamorous day for us because the amendment on the University Student Handbook has been approved by the Board of Regents.

In an article written by Maricon C. Viduya, "These new policies encourage more comfortable and respectful learning environments for all genders. Taking it from the new policies, students can freely embrace their individuality and enjoy personal expression, yet in a respectable, dignified, non-offensive manner."

The University President also voiced out his support by saying, “We should liberally interpret the policies according to the changing dynamics of social acceptance of seemingly unacceptable norms.”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the students who are the sole reason why the impossible became possible. We thank you for taking your time answering the poll which became our weapons in pushing for the initiative.

Kakabsat, we are now free to enjoy our freedom based on our SOGIE, but we would also like to remind you that such is still subjected to limitations. But with all the power and support the Campus Student Body Organization could give, shall be given — for love, for freedom, and above all, equality.

This is only the beginning of infinite possibilities, for you, for us, and for our HERstory. In the great words of the mother of all mothers, Lady Gaga, "I'll die living just as free as my hair." Let that freedom begin in our university. 🏳️‍🌈

𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐘 | 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤

DMMMSU President, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. approved USC Resolution No. 35, Series of 2024, declaring a University-Wide Personal and Spiritual Growth Break on March 25-27, 2024.

The Personal and Spiritual Growth Break aligns with the observance of Holy Week on March 28-31, 2024. This short hiatus also offers students an ample time to rest, recharge, and prepare for Midterm Examinations on April 3-5, 2024, while allowing them to observe the holidays with their families.

𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 | Due to a scheduled power interruption issued by the La Union Electric Company Inc. (LUECO), University President Jaime I. Manuel Jr. approved the Mid La Union Campus’ (MLUC) request to shift to a work from home set-up for teaching and non-teaching personnel on March 5.

In line with this, asynchronous classes will be observed. Meanwhile, personnel from the Auxiliary Services, Health Services, and Security Services whose services are deemed necessary and essential are still required to report to the campus. #
