There exist stereotypes for every kind of people and the Japanese are no exception. Here are some;
1. All Japanese People Love Manga, Anime and Cosplay.
This is like assuming that all Americans love baseball and handguns. While the country is often associated with these things, not every single citizen enjoys them.
2. Japanese People Don’t Like Letting People into their personal Bubble and are Really Weird about Personal Space.
For some reason a lot of people view Japanese people as being very anti-touchy-feely and kind of prude. While this may be somewhat true with person to person relationships and PDA like holding hands and kissing and whatnot, this is most certainly not true with daily commutes and train rides.
3. Japan is a High-Tech Wonderland.
This may have been true during the bubble in the 70’s and 80’s, but don’t let the bright lights of Shibuya crossing fool you. Japan is now lagging far behind its neighbors in China and Korea, as well as most of the Western world. Diplomats and foreign workers in Japan are usually shocked to find they still need to use a fax machine at the office.
4. Everyone is Extremely Polite at all Times.
On the surface, this seems to be the case; people are quiet on the subway, they don’t litter, and friendly bows are exchanged when friends meet up or part ways. However, most Japanese are about as polite or impolite as anyone else in a casual or informal setting.
5. Japanese People Eat Sushi Every Day.
Sushi is the most obvious staple food of Japan, but it is far being the only one. Furthermore, and this may come as a shock – some Japanese people do not enjoy raw fish.
As with many misconceptions, some of them are based on some truth that has been exaggerated to the extreme, but some of the misconceptions about Japan are downright outlandish.

Some of the most common stereotypes are the following:
1. Chinese people are martial artists
2. Chinese people are math wizards
3. Chinese people looks the same.
But these are all wrong.
1. It's true that Martial Arts are still very popular in China, especially Kung Fu and Tai Chi, but it's definitely not the case that the average Chinese person is a committed student or indeed a Kung Fu master.
It’s not to say that martial arts are of no value in China, however. Martial arts have deep roots in Chinese cultural history; forming an important part of Chinese cultural identity.
2.This stereotype is likely to be driven by our belief that the Chinese Communist authorities have engineered a society in which creativity is stamped out, coupled with our exposure to some truly exceptional students choosing to study at some of the top academic institutes in the West.
3.In reality, China has about 56 different ethnic groups, with ‘Han Chinese’ being the most popular. Features vary with identity. Therefore, certain Chinese ethnicities are known for having a taller, more slender profile and facial structure, and others may carry a shorter, rounder profile.
There are more misconceptions about Chinese people.
But one way to know about them and to clear these false stereotypes is to learn their language.
Learning Mandarin will bring you closer in learning their culture and traditions, too.
