As graduating entrepreneurs prepare to transition their enterprise ideas into the real-world market, the Makilala Institute of Science and Technology (𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐓) 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 is set to host a specialized seminar designed to bridge academic planning and enterprise ex*****on.

𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐁𝐏 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐋) course will gather on August 19, 2026, at the MIST Campus Library for an intensive session titled "𝘉𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘍𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘴: 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘵𝘺." This event aims to equip students with the essential practical tools needed to build viable, consumer-trusted, and legally compliant ventures.

To ensure top-tier industry insights, the seminar will feature expert resource speakers from DTI Cotabato Province, including Trade Industry Development Specialists and seasoned Business Counselors. These specialists will guide fourth-year students through the core pillars of sustainable business, focusing on building a strong brand identity, mastering the basics of product development, and upholding critical food safety standards.

Additionally, the speakers will lead a key discussion on business registration and licensing, providing clear, actionable steps for navigating local regulations and formalizing student enterprises.

With this initiative, MIST continues to empower its graduating student-entrepreneurs to step into the competitive business landscape with confidence, compliance, and strong market positioning.

𝐊𝐎𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐋 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 — The ASEAN Month 2026 Celebration officially commenced on August 4 at the KCC Marbel Events Center, bringing together higher education institutions from across the SOCCSKSARGEN Region for a three-day gathering. Aligned with the Philippines' ASEAN Chairship 2026, the regional event focuses on fostering academic collaboration, cultural appreciation, and international engagement under the unified theme, "Navigating Our Future, Together."

Representing the Makilala Institute of Science and Technology, a dedicated delegation of faculty members and creative student leaders actively participated in the opening festivities. The institution was officially represented by International Relations Officer and Entrepreneurship faculty member 𝐌𝐬. 𝐑𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐔. 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐲, alongside fellow Entrepreneurship faculty member 𝐌𝐬. 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐮 𝐌. 𝐀𝐱𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧.

Joining the faculty representatives were standout MIST students whose talents in the visual arts highlighted the institution's creative capabilities. Fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship student 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐁. 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐬, known for his skill in painting, along with Bachelor of Science in Agriculture student 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐥 𝐂. 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐚𝐝, recognized for his expertise in craftmaking and drawing, contributed their artistic strengths to the event's cultural and creative showcases.

Running through August 6, the three-day opening ceremony provides an essential platform for regional higher education institutions to build stronger inter-school networks and promote student talent. Through shared creative displays and collaborative discussions, MIST and its peer institutions in Region XII continue to deepen local awareness of the ASEAN community while empowering young leaders to actively shape the region's collective future.

𝐊𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 — In celebration of the 2026 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Development Week, the Department of Trade and Industry Region XII (DTI XII) successfully hosted the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) Bootcamp for Young Entrepreneurs (BYE) from July 27 to 30, 2026, at The Farm, Koronadal City.

The intensive four-day bootcamp brought together 28 promising young entrepreneurs from across the provinces and cities of Region XII (SOCCSKSARGEN), including startup founders, successors of family enterprises, and aspiring student-entrepreneurs.

Among the standout delegates participating in this event was 𝙈𝙧. 𝙆𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣, a dedicated student-entrepreneur from the Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship program of Makilala Institute of Science and Technology.

Representing the rising wave of academic innovators, 𝙈𝙧. 𝙆𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣 joined fellow delegates to hone his venture’s business model and leverage real-world market insights. His active participation highlighted the pivotal role higher education institutions play in nurturing young business minds who are ready to bridge classroom learning with actionable market solutions.

The capstone event of the four-day program was the Business Pitching Session, where 𝙈𝙧. 𝙆𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣 and his fellow participants presented their refined business concepts, growth strategies, and market projections before a panel of seasoned facilitators and mentors.

Through programs like YEP, DTI XII continues to invest heavily in the youth of SOCCSKSARGEN, offering practical learning environments, peer networking, and critical mentorship networks. Student-entrepreneurs like 𝙈𝙧. 𝙆𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣 are equipped with the tools needed to navigate the modern business landscape, and the DTI XII reinforces its commitment to cultivating a dynamic, sustainable, and future-ready MSME sector in Region XII.

To keep raising the bar for academic quality and international partnerships, International Relations Officer (IRO) and BSEntrep Faculty Member, Ms. Rhea Camille U. Tabanay attended the 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 – 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐀𝐔𝐍-𝐐𝐀) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟒.𝟎) 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐤, 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, from July 14 to 17, 2026.

The intensive four-day event brought together representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across Southeast Asia. Participants included educators, academic leaders, and quality assurance professionals from six countries: 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙, 𝙑𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙣𝙖𝙢, 𝙈𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙨𝙞𝙖, 𝘽𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙞, 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙖, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨.

Together, these delegates used the platform to learn, collaborate, build professional networks, and share proven best practices in quality assurance and internationalization.

During the training, Ms. Tabanay focused on core aspects of modern academic standards, including 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐎𝐁𝐄), 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐦 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭.

The insights and connections gained from this international gathering will help guide the institution's ongoing global efforts. Through adopting shared AUN-QA standards, the institution strengthens its academic programs, opens doors for new international partnerships, and builds better global opportunities for students.
