NINOY AQUINO DAY 2026 🕊

Today, we commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the assassination of former Senator Benigno Simeon “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. on August 21, 1983.

Ninoy Aquino remains a symbol of courage, democracy, freedom, and sacrifice. He stood against authoritarian rule, defended human rights and civil liberties, and continued to fight for democratic change despite imprisonment and exile. His sacrifice became a powerful inspiration for the Filipino people and contributed to the movement that led to the 1986 People Power Revolution.

May we honor his legacy by remembering our history, valuing our freedom, defending democracy, and serving our country with integrity.

“The Filipino is worth dying for.”

Let us remember. Let us learn. Let us continue to uphold the freedom he stood for.

The UMak Commission on Student Election (COSEL) officially presents the Calendar of Activities for the UMak Student Elections 2026, covering the 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻and the 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 (𝗖𝗘&𝗧) 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Through these consultations, we hope to create a space where Herons can freely share their perspectives and engage in dialogue grounded in the realities of our student community. Your participation allows us to see beyond policies and numbers and understand the people and experiences behind them.

As we flip the pages, some chapters come to an end—not because the story is over, but because a new chapter is ready to begin. 📖✨

As the University of Makati embarks on a new academic structure, the Institute of Social Work officially transferred into the Institute for Social Development and Nation Building (ISDNB), effective on the 14th day of June, 2026.

While our institute has entered a new chapter, our mission remains unchanged. The Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) program will continue without interruption, remaining committed to developing competent, compassionate, and service-oriented social workers.

This is more than a change in structure; it is a renewed vision to strengthen social development that will contribute to nation building.

New chapter. Same commitment to service. Greater vision for the future. 💙🩷🌱

More than just a strategic planning session, the event became a meaningful platform for cultivating a culture of collaboration, innovation, and servant leadership—empowering participants to build a stronger, more resilient, and united UMak community. Every activity became an opportunity to exchange ideas, share laughter, forge lasting camaraderie, and create memories that will continue to inspire their leadership journey.
