NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC: Pursuant to PD 474, Republic Act No 10635 and in compliance to the 2010 Manila Amendments to the Standard of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, the MARINA adopts the additional guidelines on the revalidation of COPs issued under regulation VI/1, VI/2 AND VI/3 and in accordance with sections A-VI/1, A-VI/2, AND A-VI/3 of the 2010 Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention.

1. Seafarers qualified in accordance with Section A-VI/1, A-V1/2 and A VI/3 shall be required, every five (5) years, to provide evidence of having maintained the required standard of competence.

2. Seafarers with onboard training and experience, 12 months for every five (5) years, for maintaining the required standard of competence set out in Table A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/2-1, A-VI/2-2, A-VI/3 shall be accepted as evidence in lieu of the corresponding refresher training.

In view of this implementation, the following are the requirements in the application for the revalidation of COPs on Basic Training (BT), Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (SCRB), Fast Rescue Boat (FRB), and Advanced Firefighting (AFF):

1. Seagoing service of not less than 12 months

2. Attestation or any document from the Ship's Captain / Ship Owners / Manning Agencies that proves that said seafarer has participated in onboard training and other practical training.

Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, strict implementation, monitoring and assessment of fleets/vessels’ hulls, equipment and machinery in compliance with national and international quality and safety standards, policies, systems and procedures.

An applicant must have basic understanding of the shipmanagement business and as Safety Officer of Maritime Industry.

An applicant should be a licensed Master or Chief Mate

Job Description:

Conducts vessel's safety inspection and discusses findings to the Safety Manager and Technical Manager. Attends to vessel's safety concerns such as gas freeing and other critical activities. Provides answers to the minutes of safety meeting and submits it to the Safety Manager for approval. Submits to the Safety Manager consolidated reports on the following:

4.1 Near Miss

4.2 Unsafe Act and Unsafe Conditions

4.4 Minutes of the Shipboard Safety Committee Meeting

4.5 Emergency Drills

5. Participates in the implementation of ZERO HARM Program.

6. Periodically reviews and update the whole Shipmanagement group on the changes and new programs of MARINA, Office of Transport Security (OTS), International Maritime Organization (IMO), etc.

7. Acts as reliever Master of the vessel when necessary.

Job Skills and Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's/College Degree in Maritime Studies or equivalent. At least 2 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position. Required Skill(s): expertise on Safety Program Management Preferably Assistant Manager/Manager specialized in Engineering - Environmental/Health/Safety or equivalent.
