Maybe you’ve never stopped to consider what “His purpose” is. Briefly put, God is committed to one major objective in your life: to conform you into “the image of His Son.” One of the many ways I’ve seen Him do that is through interaction with others.

He’s up to something by placing you in a small group at church with a family with a special needs son, or forcing you to work closely with an office manager whose life is coming unglued. Those interactions may be awkward, even unpleasant at times, but they could be what God’s up to in forming you into the image of His Son.

Consider today how you might join God in that purpose. Make yourself available as a dispenser of His kindness, a giver of His grace to someone who might need both.

What’s God up to in Your Life?
Romans 8:28

OUR WORLD HAS become a large, impersonal, busy affair.
Social media and the technological age have caused us to become
alienated from each other. We’re connected but not in community. No longer do neighbors visit across the backyard fence, chat in the driveway, or catch up on the kids at the mailbox. Those days are long gone.

Our well manicured front lawns and meticulously landscaped perimeters have become modern-day moats that keep barbarians at bay. Hoarding and flaunting have replaced sharing and caring. It’s like we are occupying common space but have no common interests, as if we’re on an elevator with rules such as: “No talking, smiling, or eye contact allowed without written consent of the management.”

Painful though it may be for us to admit, we’re losing touch with one another. The motivation to help, to encourage, yes, to serve our fellow human beings is waning. People have even observed crimes in progress but refused to help so as not to be involved! Our foundational values are getting lost in these confusing days. And yet it is these things that form the essentials of a happy and fulfilled life.

WHEN THEY KNEW JESUS !!!
“Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother named Mary? And aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? And aren’t all his sisters here with us? Where did he get all this?”
- MATTHEW 13:55–56 NET

Can you imagine growing up in the same household with Perfection? My mother only thinks I’m perfect; Mary knew her eldest son was. But His brothers and sisters were not. The sibling rivalry must have been intense.

Mark 3:20–21 ( NET) says, “Now Jesus went home, and a crowd gathered so that they were not able to eat. When his family heard this they went out to restrain him, for they said, ‘He is out of his mind.’” Jesus’ own family rejected him. James didn’t even come to the crucifixion; Jesus asked his cousin John to look after Mary.
It was only after the Resurrection that they believed. Jesus appeared to James (1 Corinthians 15:7). We don’t know anything about the meeting, but James quickly became a leader in the early church. Jesus’ other brothers also served in the church (1 Corinthians 9:5).

Many of us have been praying for our relatives’ salvation. Jesus knows what that’s like and cares just as much as we do.

THE LORD IS GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL...

Life brings disappointment, disease, despair, and death. No one walks this journey without encountering rocky roads. Often life seems terribly unfair and inexplicable. Yesterday, friends of mine lost their baby, less than twenty-four hours old. Why? They would have made wonderful parents, and they longed for this baby and prayed for him for years. Now he’s gone, and their arms are empty.
At a time like this, the most important reality is God’s sovereignty.

Chuck Swindoll says, “God is not almost sovereign. He is in complete control of the circumstances of our lives. He is good. And He is full of mercy.” He sees what we can’t, knows what we don’t, can do the impossible, and He is good. All of that, all the time. So we trust Him. In His greatest act of sovereignty and kindness to us all, He provided a Savior to forgive our sin.

Charles Swindoll correctly observed, “Nothing speaks louder or more powerfully than a life of integrity.” Godly men and women agree.
Integrity is built slowly over a lifetime. It is a precious thing—
difficult to build but easy to tear down. As believers in Christ, we must seek to live each day with discipline, honesty, and faith. When we do, at least two things happen: integrity becomes a habit, and God blesses us because of our obedience to Him.
Living a life of integrity isn’t always the easiest way, but it is always the right way. And God clearly intends that it should be our way too.

LET US OPEN OPPORTUNITY FOR OTHERS TO BE IN THE FAMILY OF GOD!!!
You will know how to live in the family of God.

Jillian and Robert were twins—obviously not identical. They had been in foster homes since their parents were killed in a car crash on a California freeway.

The kids were raised by three separate foster families. “Nobody wanted the two of us,” Robert reported. “Jillian and I didn’t see each other for over ten years.”

Robert kept a journal through his high school years. In an entry for
Thursday, January 15, 2000, he wrote: “When I was a kid, I went to a Sunday school and heard about the family of God. No one will ever know how much I wanted to be a son in that family. Jillian, too (a daughter, not a son. lol).”

According to a cable news program, Robert’s journal was discovered with his belongings in a war zone in Iraq. It was sent home with his body. A distant uncle remarked, “We never were a close family.”

Given the opportunity, Robert could have been a son in the family of God. He would have learned the things that family life teaches. Things like joy (Psalm 67:4), courage (Deuteronomy 31:6), satisfaction (Psalm 103:5), forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32), togetherness (Proverbs 27:6), and love (1 Peter 4:8–9).

Pray for opportunities to introduce spiritual orphans to God and His family.

THE RESULTS OF ADOPTION
I . . . will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
- LEVITICUS 26:12

The first result of our adoption I shall mention is that if we have the
spirit of adoption, we have lost “the spirit of bo***ge again to fear”
(Romans 8:15).

Positively, in the second place, we have been given a
spirit of liberty. In other words, we are no longer afraid of the law and its condemnation; we are no longer afraid of death; we are enjoying something of the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Third, we receive this spirit of adoption through the indwelling Spirit.

But then in addition there are these results: Because we have been adopted into God’s family, we are entitled to bear His name. We can say that we are the children of God. We are members of the
household of God. We belong to God’s family. God’s name is upon
us. He has said, “I . . . will be your God, and ye shall be my people”
(Leviticus 26:12). We are His people. Peter applies to Christians
what God said to the nation of Israel of old: “But ye are a chosen
generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).

What else? Well, the fifth benefit is that we enjoy the present protection and consolation that God alone can give, and the provision that He makes for His children. “Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Luke 12:7); nothing can happen to us apart from Him.

The next benefit, at first, is not so pleasurable—fatherly chastisements. That is the whole argument of the first half of Hebrews 12: “For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth” (verse 6). He chastises His children, but not those who are not His children.

SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL LAWS ARE DESIGNED BY JESUS!!!
He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
- COLOSSIANS 1:17 NLT

Jesus holds our world together in both the spiritual and the physical realm.

It’s not that He wraps His arms around our universe to keep it from falling apart. Rather, Jesus fine-tuned our Earth for life and continually preserves those conditions.
Earth’s precise distance from the sun is essential to life. If Earth were 5 percent closer, rivers and oceans would evaporate from a strong greenhouse effect. Move 5 percent farther away, both water and carbon dioxide would freeze.

Too cold or too hot means no life. Even our sterile moon makes life possible by stabilizing the tilt of Earth’s axis. Without the moon’s steady pull, Earth’s tilt could randomly swing over a wide range, resulting in temperatures too hot and too cold for life and erratic seasons.

Astronomers are also discovering how other planets in our solar system actually help Earth. For example, the huge planet Jupiter deflects many comets from entering the inner section of the solar system, where they could easily hit Earth with devastating results.
Through science we discover the physical laws Jesus designed for our universe.

Through Bible study we unearth the spiritual laws Jesus designed for us. Look to Jesus to hold your life together.

YOU CAN ARGUE WHO'S THE GREATEST BUT JESUS SAID...
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
- MATTHEW 18:3 NIV

On the road to Capernaum, Christ’s disciples were arguing among
themselves about which of them was the greatest. When Jesus asked what they had been arguing about, they kept quiet (Mark 9:33–34). Maybe they were embarrassed to say.

Matthew 18 provides more insight into this story. It says that the disciples asked Jesus, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” (Matthew 18:1). In other words, “What do we have to do to attain greatness when we get there?”

In Matthew 18:3, Jesus answers their question by using little children as examples. He tells His disciples that they need to change their attitudes and think with the righteous heart of a child.
Very young children approach the world with innocence. They are free from selfish ambition, are humble and dependent on their parents. This simple, meek spirit is what God requires of us. Instead of worrying about being great here on earth or when we get to heaven, Matthew 18:3 indicates we should be concerned about whether we will enter His kingdom at all.
