Power of Pen 8 Mindanao Culinary Culture: Research and Writing Basics

14/03/2018

POP, finally setting foot in Mindanao this summer!

In the age of digitally-mediated communication platforms, publishing written outputs on the internet has become one of the easiest ways to establish a career as a writer. Food, among other areas of interest like travel, lifestyle, and technology, has taken many content in the online media and news sites today. Writing about food – whether a personal or paid review, has become a popular and an effective tool for marketing and service journalism.

Until today however, food writing is not recognized as an independent field of journalism. Hence, Power of Pen, a food writing seminar and workshop was established in 2009 to cater to the growing needs of the food writers’ community and to set guidelines and standard for food writing.

This May 2018, STRAM Inc will have its 8th Power of Pen installation in Davao, Mindanao, with a one-day seminar and workshop addressing the basics and technicalities of writing about food, and laying the foundation of what it is to become a food writer – research tasks, cultural responsibilities, and ethical writing.

Do share away this information with your family, friends, colleagues and to others who may be interested to listen and learn from the experts in South...this May 2018.
