To our esteemed speakers, Ms. Josephine Lascano and Ms. Tina Bawagan, we are grateful that you entrusted us with your lived experiences and for the depth you brought into this conversation. Your stories will stay with us far beyond this forum.

We leave this space carrying more than what we came with. With that, may we carry what we have learned with care and continue to uphold truth, empathy, and collective responsibility in our everyday lives. ๐Ÿซถ

Healing and remembering are never done alone. They are shaped by those who listen, who speak, and who continue the work of holding space for stories that matter.

Meet our speakers:

Josephine โ€œJoyโ€ Lascano โ€“ A mental health and psychosocial support practitioner with over 25 years of experience in advocacy, rehabilitation, and peacebuilding. She will guide us through conversations on Mental Health and Trauma Recovery; Memory and Healing Practices.

Maria Cristina โ€œTinaโ€ Pargas Bawagan โ€“ Martial law survivor, educator, and lifelong advocate. Through her lived experiences, she brings insight into Survivor Experiences and Advocacy; Storytelling and Memorialization.

Together, they help us understand that healing is not just personalโ€”it is collective, remembered, and carried forward.

The Martial Law era did not end when it was declared over. For many, healing was not immediate, nor was it simple. It was something carried quietly without the space or support to fully process it.

As time passes and as the vines grow over the wildflowers, these experiences donโ€™t disappear. They never do. They are passed on, remembered, or, sometimes, forgotten in ways that change how we understand history itself.

๐๐š๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ ๐š๐ญ ๐๐š๐ -๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ฅ๐š: ๐€ ๐…๐จ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ง ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐‡๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐€๐Ÿ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐‹๐š๐ฐ invites you to sit and reflect with us on the lasting emotional and psychological impacts of a history that continues to shape lives today. Through conversations on trauma, survivor experiences, and advocacy, the forum opens a space to understand how healing happens, and why remembering still matters.

It is also a recognition of the work done by advocates and practitioners who continue to support survivors, and a call for younger generations to listen, reflect, and engage.

Because, perhaps, the question is no longer just ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฑ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ, but:

Its impact lingers in memory, in behavior, and in the quiet struggles passed from one generation to the next.

Yet, when we come together with compassion and understanding, we give ourselves the chance to heal.
