𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 | 𝗦𝘁𝗮. 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 6𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 2025

Jeremy Sta. Ines of Lumban National High School (LNHS) earned 6th place in Men's Chess Unit Meet 2025 at Francisco Benitez Memorial School (FBMS) on November 19 to 20.

Sta. Ines competed with lack of sleep, lack of energy, and some other things going through his head. “But, regardless of what I was feeling, I still showed up and showed them what I was made of.” the athlete said.

During the competition, Sta. Ines managed to make some calculated and decent moves that put him a step closer to victory, however his opponents were not to be underestimated as they were making moves just as good as his moves. But still after a long clash of minds that seemed endless he still managed to put up a good fight with a score of 3 wins and 2 losses out of 5 matches. The athlete also added that he might be retiring from competitive chess since it is his last year as a Junior High School Student and to persue different passion while also trying different things.

𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 | 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼, 𝗻𝗮𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 2025

Nakamit ni Seth Ricci G. Ronquillo ng Lumban National High School (LNHS) ang ikatlong pwesto sa Men's Padded Arnis noong Nobyembre 19 hanggang 20 sa Francisco Benitez Memorial School (FBMS).

Ani ni Ronquillo, na sa training pa lamang nila ay excited na raw siyang sumalang sa laban. Dagdag pa niya, na sa mismong araw ng laban ay nakaramdam siya ng kaba dahil sa kalagitnaan ng laban ay biglang nag iba ang sistema ng laro kaya hindi siya makapuntos. Nalungkot si Ronquillio sa kaniyang pagkatalo dahil hindi niya inaasahan na sa kabila ng kaniyang hirap makatungtong sa Unit Meet, ay madali lamang siyang matatalo ng kalaban.

𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧 | 𝗔𝗻̃𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗼, 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗻𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀 2025.

Nasungkit ni Raigin Ellie M. Añonuevo ng Lumban National Highschool (LNHS) ang ikalawang pwesto sa Men's Padded Arnis Unit meet 2025.

Ibinahagi niya na kulang ang kaniyang pag sasanay at nahirapan siyang mag dagdag ng timbang sa katawan. Dagdag pa niya, na masaya ang naging karanasan niya sa pagsali sa Unit Meet ng Arnis kahit siya ay may nakakaramdam pressure at nagtamo ng mga injuries pagkatapos ng kumpetisyon. Ani niya'y "I am mentally stable for upcoming competitions".

𝙇𝙉𝙃𝙎 𝙁𝙀𝙈𝘼𝙇𝙀 𝘼𝙍𝙉𝙄𝙎𝘼𝘿𝙊𝙍𝙎 𝙏𝘼𝙆𝙀𝙎 𝙎𝙄𝙇𝙑𝙀𝙍 𝙈𝙀𝘿𝘼𝙇 𝙄𝙉 𝙎𝙔𝙉𝘾𝙃𝙍𝙊𝙉𝙄𝙕𝙀𝘿 𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙂𝙇𝙀 𝙒𝙀𝘼𝙋𝙊𝙉 𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙋𝙀𝙏𝙄𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉

LNHS female arnisadors took home the silver medal in the Synchronized Single Weapon competition at the Francisco Benitez Memorial School Unit Meet on November 19, 2025.

Even if they fell just short of the gold, third-year arnisadors Abhegeil Baduel, Paula Bianca Aniciete, and Iliana Valdeabella shared that they were not entirely disappointed, acknowledging their limited training time.

“We weren’t disappointed—we expected it because we were only allowed to train a few times, and we barely had free time because of schoolwork. Of course, there’s still that guilt that if we trained longer, and if our bodies could handle training after school, we would have been more confident in the anyo we performed,” said Iliana Valdeabella when asked about their reaction to the results.

During the competition, the team admitted feeling nervous, which led to forgetting some of the steps.

“We were so anxious to the point that we forgot most of the steps and made some mistakes, but even then, we still chose to continue,” Paula Bianca Aniciete said when asked how they felt during their performance.

“And our swords were heavier compared to Pagsanjan and Kalayaan’s, so we had trouble because they were so heavy. Our arms were getting sore from moving them so much,” Aniciete added.

When asked if they would compete again next year, Abhegeil Baduel responded positively.

“If we are given the chance and can get in, then yes—since we did it last year, why not take the opportunity? There’s nothing to lose if we try. And aside from that, we can make memories and improve even more.” Valdeabella and Aniciete agreed with her answer.

Isang makasaysayang araw ang ipinagdiriwang ng Bayan ng Lumban, Laguna sa paggunita ng ika-447 taon ng pagkakatatag nito. Mula nang maitayo noong Setyembre 22, 1578, ang Lumban ay naging sagisag ng kasaysayan, kultura, at sining ng ating bansa. Kinikilala bilang Embroidery Capital of the Philippines at siyang pinagkuhaan ng aming Pangalan ng Diyaryo ang BURDA!
