The first rainfall for the month of May 2026 was recorded approximately three hours ago in Lucena City, based on initial readings from the automated weather station of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation located at the University Library.
The first rain event commonly known as Agua De Mayo marked a welcome break from the intense heat and dry conditions that have affected the city in recent weeks. Light to moderate showers were also observed in several areas bringing cooler temperatures and refreshing outdoor conditions for residents.
The data remains preliminary and should be interpreted with caution. Since the readings are sourced from an automated system, it still require careful validation, calibration checks, and comparison with other meteorological data before being finalized.
Beyond its meteorological significance, many locals view the first rain of May as a symbol of good luck and new beginnings.

Earlier today, the Sustainability Department - Health and Safety Unit successfully conducted a Bomb Awareness Seminar titled Project ABKD (Awareness of Bomb That Kills Lives and Destroys Properties) in collaboration with the Provincial EOD and Canine Unit (PECU) Quezon through PLT Ferdinand Rios. The activity brought together key university stakeholders committed to safety, resilience, and risk reduction.
The seminar was attended by members of the University Disaster and Emergency Response Team (UDERT), the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Committee, security personnel, Criminology first responders, and safety officers from affiliate schools. This diverse participation ensured a comprehensive and coordinated approach to emergency preparedness across all sectors of the institution.
Project ABKD aimed to raise awareness on the nature of explosive threats, including recognizing suspicious objects, understanding potential risks, and applying appropriate response protocols. Resource speakers emphasized the importance of vigilance, early detection, and proper reporting procedures to prevent harm and minimize damage to lives and properties.
Through this initiative, the University continues to uphold its commitment to safety, sustainability, and proactive risk management.

In line with todayโs celebration of Earth Day, Enverga University proudly conducted the โBring Your Own Food Container and Tumblerโ initiativeโa simple yet meaningful step toward reducing waste and promoting environmental responsibility.
Faculty, employees and students were encouraged to use reusable containers and tumblers instead of single-use plastics during meals and refreshments. This initiative highlights how small, everyday choices can create a significant impact in protecting our environment.
Let us continue to make sustainable choicesโnot just today, but every day!
