The UP Omega Alpha Fraternity and UP Omega Alpha Sorority is a University of the Philippines-based fraternity and sorority that are founded on the principle of “Service for the People and Country.”
The brotherhood and sisterhood aim to promote camaraderie among the members in the context of social awareness, develop the members’ well-being, and contribute to the betterment of the larger society.
The family was founded in 1995 after the summer of violence among several gangs and fraternities called “Bloody Summer.” Realizing the need for a fraternity and sorority that shall embody the true essence of brotherhood and sisterhood without resorting to hazing nor violence, the UP Omega Alpha was born. The name “UP Omega Alpha” comes from the Greek words “Omega” which means ‘end’ and “Alpha” which means ‘beginning’. The name embodies the family’s aim to end the notion of violence among fraternities and sororities and beginning the age of defining what it truly means – by creating harmonious relationships among other fraternities and sororities and to exist for the ‘Service of its People and Country’.
