๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ โ ๐๐๐๐!
I graduated BS Nursing in 1995 and became PHRN in the same year. I dreamed of working in the US in 2005, reviewed in Ray A. Gapuz Review System and eventually passed the CGFNS in 2006. But life was hard and I was not able to finance my family's needs so I decided to apply abroad, luckily I was hired and worked in Abu Dhabi for 15 years in the Operating Room Department. In 2022, my husband and I decided to resign and quest for a different venture, agribusiness. In my mind, I already retired, no more plans to continue nursing. But when January 2026 came, a very dear friend of mine, a USRN, visited me and managed to convince me to try NCLEX-RN and he voluntarily sponsored my review. Immediately, without a second thought, I enrolled and started my series of nursing reviews in RAGRS. I met Sir Ray Gapuz and became inspired by his encouraging messages, as well as the inspiring messages from RAGRS mentors. There was a point that I cried because I failed in multiple psychiatry quizzes. I doubted and asked myself, "Do I have to continue reviewing? Can I make it through?" I prayed a lot, talking to GOD silently and privately. I continued my reviews, staying up late reading NGN NCLEX 311, writing notes and watching nursing related videos repeatedly. My auntie and dearest supportive friends helped me pay for my NCLEX Exam.
I remembered what Sir Ray told us, "wag maging mamaru". He is right. If you are not confident enough, don't force yourself to take the exam. Repetition is one of the keys in reviewing, especially for a student like me, more than 30 years out of school (hehehe). Writing USRN after your name is also effective, as a manifestation. I also remembered a funny thing during the start of every review session and the mentor was asking, " Are there foreign students in the class?" then I always reply, "My surname sounds foreign but I am a full pledged Filipino German," then the mentor will laugh.
There were many times that I felt like giving up but there was something in my heart and mind pushing me to continue. 2 days before my actual exam, I tried the simulation practice, took the 1st 85 questions that Sir Ray recommended, I got 71.5%, he analyzed and told me that it was great and there was no need to recommend a postponement of my NCLEX exam. I got his reseta and I completed 3/4 sets with good results. Then September 9 came. I was not the first examinee to arrive in the lobby but when we were outside the Pearson Vue office, most of the examinees went to the WC. Since I had already gone to the WC before the others, I was the first to enter the room; I got the number 1 card, was screened, scanned, and body searched then escorted to the exam cubicle number 18. I prayed before I even touched the computer. I was slightly anxious while taking my exam, focusing on the questions and critically analyzing it. When I happened to notice that I was in 79th item, I entered a fugue state and continued until the computer stopped. I did not notice at what item number it stopped at so my anxiety increased but I was thankful that I finished in an hour and a half only. I went home feeling ambivalent.
During the long days of waiting, I couldn't help but review my notes and videos again as if I had already failed and that I had to get ready to try again. I checked Pearson Vue, Nursys and NYSED daily. Until last night, something was different. I checked NURSYS and, surprisingly, my name was there and I cried in my immense joy. I had not expected it. My whole family was happy and proud of me. I am finally a USRN!!! I am so grateful to you, Dr. Ray Gapuz, to the talented mentors Maclaine, Jimmy, Abigail, Shandy, Missy, Jone and Sol, as well as to the rest of the RAGRS team for helping me get through it. You were my precious pieces who completed my NCLEX-RN puzzle board. I am forever thankful to all of you! What an amazing team! Definitely, I highly recommend the Ray A. Gapuz Review System for the national and international nursing arena. I am a full-fledged Ray Gapuz Baby!!! May GOD bless you all, always. More power to the team. More PHRNs and USRNs to come.
