In celebration of the 2026 Farmers & Fisherfolks' Day, we welcomed participants to a meaningful day of learning and collaboration at the Biodiversity Research Center this April 27, 2026.

Participants explored specialized sessions focused on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration. A highlight of the activity was the guided tour of Rainforestation Demonstration Sites, where they observed how integrating native species and diverse planting approaches can help rehabilitate degraded areas, enhance climate resilience, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Anchored on the theme โ€œCelebrating Service Excellence and Shaping a Resilient Future through Innovation,โ€ the initiative reinforced the value of linking scientific knowledge with practical, community-based applications.

Together, we move forward in protecting biodiversity, strengthening ecosystems, and building a more sustainable and resilient future for all. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

As part of the Special Lecture on Avian Medicine, Raptor Conservation, and Advanced Conservation Technologies held at Visayas State University last September 29, 2025, distinguished guests Dr. Munir Virani (CEO, Mohamed Bin Zayed Raptor Conservation Fund) and Mr. Nico Herth (CEO, Procon-Grumbach), together with students and faculty from UP Mindanao in partnership with the Philippine Eagle Foundation, visited the Biodiversity Research Center.

They explored some of the endemic flora existing in the centerโ€”living symbols of our efforts toward habitat restoration and Philippine Eagle conservation. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

Together, we continue to bridge science, conservation, and educationโ€”for the future of our forests, our raptors, and our nationโ€™s natural heritage. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญโœจ

Do you know where your houseplants came from? ๐ŸŒฑ We call upon all plant parents to protect the wild populations of their houseplant babies. The growing houseplant trend, has led to a booming black market including the illegal trade of poached plants! Plants are being taken from diversity hotspots in Mexico, California, South Africa, and Chile to be sold in markets in Europe, North American and Asia. ๐ŸŒ
