𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝗨𝗽 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲

Agriculture students from incoming First Year to Fourth Year came together for a Clean-Up Drive held at the Agriculture Department on August 11, 2026. The activity brought students together in a collective effort to maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and overall appearance of their learning environment.

Throughout the activity, students worked together in cleaning and organizing different areas within the department, demonstrating cooperation, responsibility, and concern for their surroundings. Beyond promoting environmental awareness, the clean-up drive also served as an opportunity to strengthen camaraderie and teamwork among students across different year levels.

The activity reflects the Agriculture students' shared commitment to maintaining a clean, green, and conducive environment for learning. Through collective action, the students demonstrated that keeping their department clean is a responsibility shared by everyone.

As we celebrate Agriculturists' Month 2026, we proudly recognize ANNA MARIE M. ALONZO MAIED, a Registered Agriculturist and one of the dedicated faculty members of the Eastern Visayas State University – Burauen Campus.

Ms. Alonzo has exemplified excellence in agricultural education through her unwavering commitment to teaching, mentorship, and community engagement. Beyond the classroom, she has served with distinction as the Gender and Development (GAD) Coordinator of EVSU–Burauen Campus for eight years, championing programs that promote gender equality, women's empowerment, inclusivity, and equal opportunities within the university and the communities it serves.

Her leadership reflects the evolving role of an agriculturist—not only as a steward of food security and sustainable agriculture but also as an advocate for social transformation and inclusive development. Through her dedication, she has helped strengthen the integration of gender-responsive approaches in instruction, extension, research, and institutional programs, creating a more equitable environment for students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

Honoring Excellence in Agricultural Research and Innovation
As we celebrate Agriculturists' Month 2026, we proudly recognize JAY MARK CACEREZ, MSc, a Registered Agriculturist and one of the dedicated faculty members of the Eastern Visayas State University – Burauen Campus.

Mr. Cacerez has consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and institutional service. As the Income Generating Project (IGP) Head, he has played a vital role in strengthening the University's agricultural initiatives while fostering innovation, productivity, and sustainability.

His commitment to scientific advancement is reflected in his published research, "Performance of Caged Broilers and Uncaged Broilers Fed with Activated Bamboo Charcoal and Bentonite Clay Mineral as Feed Additives," which has gained recognition through scholarly citations. His work contributes valuable knowledge to the field of animal nutrition and sustainable livestock production, helping improve poultry management practices and supporting evidence-based agriculture.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Cacerez continues to inspire students through his dedication to quality instruction, research excellence, and public service. His passion for agriculture reflects the true spirit of an agriculturist—one who cultivates not only crops and livestock but also knowledge, innovation, and future generations of agricultural professionals.

Today, we proudly feature MARIA CRISANDRA D. OLIVEROS, MSc, a Registered Agriculturist and one of the distinguished faculty members of the Eastern Visayas State University – Burauen Campus.
For four years, Ms. Oliveros faithfully served as the Department Head of the Agriculture Department, providing visionary leadership, strengthening academic programs, and inspiring both students and colleagues through her commitment to excellence in agricultural education.

Beyond the classroom and administration, she has also demonstrated her passion for literature and creative expression through her published literary work, “Words”, reflecting that an agriculturist not only cultivates the land but also nurtures minds, ideas, and human values.

The Burauen Youth Hub (RAPID Babies) from EVSU–Burauen Campus proudly celebrate the successful completion of the first batch of the 2026 Youth Entrepreneurship Program: Be Your Own Boss (YEP-BYOB) conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Leyte Provincial Office last May 18–22, 2026, at Ironwood Hotel, Tacloban City.

For five meaningful days, our delegates were immersed in an intensive entrepreneurial training that strengthened not only their knowledge but also their confidence to pursue innovative and sustainable business ventures. The program covered essential topics such as entrepreneurial mindset, self-discovery, design thinking, customer empathy, business operations, financial management, and sustainable entrepreneurship. One of the highlights of the training was the Business Model Canvas workshop, where participants transformed their ideas into structured and viable business concepts.

The program concluded with an inspiring business pitching session, giving participants the opportunity to present their business models before a panel of experts and receive valuable insights from industry professionals. The experience challenged our delegates to think critically, communicate confidently, and refine their entrepreneurial ideas for real-world application.

The Burauen Youth Hub (RAPID Babies) extend their heartfelt gratitude to DTI RAPID VIII Growth Project and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Leyte Provincial Office for organizing the initiative and providing young aspiring entrepreneurs with opportunities to develop their entrepreneurial potential.

As the first batch of the 2026 YEP-BYOB concludes, the participating youth return to their respective communities equipped with new knowledge, strengthened networks, and renewed confidence to transform innovative ideas into meaningful entrepreneurial endeavors.
