| In celebration of the International Day of Education, with the theme: The power of youth in co-creating education, the Students' Rights and Welfare Committee of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy CSC, in partnership with Intercultural Bicol Advocates for Learning Opportunities and Networking (IBALON)—A Bicol-wide accredited youth serving club for UNESCO in the Philippines, successfully distributed bond paper donations (1 ream long-sized, 1 ream short-sized each) to the six (6) department-based organizations of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.

The initiative seeks to ease students' academic expenses, strengthen
departmental support systems, and uphold the right to accessible education for all.

𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗬 𝗡𝗔 𝗦𝗔𝗡𝗔 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗔, 𝗕𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗘 𝗔𝗞𝗢

Sa pagdiriwang ng buwang ito, ipagpatuloy natin ang pakikibaka para sa pagkakapantay-pantay ng kababaihan. Bagamat may mga batas na nagpoprotekta sa kanilang mga karapatan, marami pa rin ang nakararanas ng diskriminasyon at pang-aabuso. Hinihikayat ang lahat na hindi lamang ipagdiwang ang buwan ng kababaihan kundi patibayin din ang suporta sa kanilang kalayaan, dignidad, at pantay na oportunidad sa lipunan.

Ang buwang ito ay isang pagkakataon upang pagmunihan ang mga tagumpay na ating nakamit at harapin ang mga hamong patuloy na umiiral. Isa itong paalala na ang mga kababaihan ay hindi lamang basta kababaihan—𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗸𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝘁𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝗯𝗮’𝘁 𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗵𝗮𝘆. Patuloy nating ipaglaban ang kanilang mga karapatan, pakinggan ang kanilang mga tinig, at tiyakin na ang bawat isa ay may patas na oportunidad upang magtagumpay.

Habang tayo ay sumusulong, mahalagang mapanatili natin ang dedikasyon sa pagwawakas ng mga hadlang at sa paglikha ng isang mundong kung saan ang pagkakapantay-pantay ng kasarian ay hindi lamang isang pangarap, kundi isang realidad. Ipagpatuloy natin ang pagpapalakas ng boses ng kababaihan sa isang lipunang dominante at default ang impluwensyang hindi sang-ayon sa pagtaas ng mga babaeng progresibo't radikal. Ipagpatuloy naten ang pagtaas ng bandera ng kababaihan sa lipunan na puno ng opinyong kumukulong sa konsepto ng pagkababae. Iwagayway ang opinyon at ang kakayanan na makakapag unlad ng kalahatan. Dahil tayo ay babae, tayo ang lamang. Dahil babae tayo, hindi babae lamang.

Sa araw na ito, inaalala natin ang tapang ng mga Pilipinong lumaban para sa kalayaan at demokrasya, ipinapaalala rin natin ang halaga ng pagkilos, pagkakaisa, at pananampalataya sa isang mas makatarungan at maunlad na lipunan.

Nawa’y manatili sa ating mga puso ang aral ng EDSA—na ang tinig ng bayan ay may kapangyarihang magdala ng pagbabago. Ipagpatuloy natin ang laban para sa tunay na kalayaan, hustisya, at karapatan ng bawat isa, managot ang dapat managot, bumayad and dapat bumayad, ipatalsik and dapat ipatalsik. Mabuhay and diwa ng EDSA! 🎗️

𝗞𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗔𝗡, 𝗧𝗔𝗬𝗢 𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗘𝗗𝗦𝗔! 𝗞𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗔𝗡, 𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗨𝗛𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗜𝗪𝗔 𝗡𝗚 𝗘𝗗𝗦𝗔!

Ang EDSA People Power ay isang malaking marka sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas. Ito ang panawagan para kay Marcos Sr. na bumaba sa kanyang pagkapangulo, na nagwakas sa 21 taong diktadurya. Ang rebolusyon ng EDSA ay patunay na may manipestasyon na kahit paano ay gumagana ang demokrasya. Ipinapaalala nito sa atin ang kapangyarihan ng masang Pilipino sa isang demokratikong bansa. Ito ay testamento ng katapangan, pagkakapatiran, at kapayapaan. Ang mga taong sumama sa mapayapang pakikibaka sa bahaging iyon ng kasaysayan ay simbolo ng tunay na pagkakaisa. Dahil sa EDSA, nagbagsak ang pamumuno ng diktadurya at pinalayas ang mga Marcos sa palasyo.

Ngunit ngayon, isang Marcos na naman ang nakaupo sa pinakamataas na posisyon sa bansa. Muli, ang kapangyarihan ng pagkapangulo ay nasa kamay ng Marcos political dynasty. Isang landslide victory ang kanilang nakamit gamit ang kapangyarihan ng fake news. Inilagay siya roon ng 31 milyong tao na sumuporta sa kanila sa ilalim ng UniTeam. 𝗢𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝘁𝗮𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮, 𝗮𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗸 𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗸𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻.

Pero ano ang kapalit? Mabagal na aksyon sa lumalalang problema ng gutom, korapsyon, droga, at krimen. Iyon ay isang malaking halimbawa ng pangakong napako. Sa kabila ng lahat ng iyon, hindi man lang niya idineklara ang anibersaryo ng Rebolusyon ng EDSA People Power bilang isang espesyal na araw na walang pasok at trabaho. 𝗜𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝘁𝗮𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗱𝘂𝘀𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗴 𝗸𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗺𝗮, 𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘆𝗮. Ang mga buhay ng mga taong lumaban para sa demokrasya ay naglaho at ang kanilang mga pamana ay parang mga papel na kinulubot at itinapon sa basurahan.

Ang rebolusyon ng EDSA ay hindi lamang isang simpleng rally, ito ay isa sa mga ilang sandali kung saan nagkakaisa ang mga Pilipino para sa isang bagay na hindi para sa kanilang sarili. Hindi ito isang pagdiriwang ng pagpapalayas sa mga Marcos sa palasyo, ito ay isang paggunita sa ating pakikibaka para sa karapatang pantao at demokrasya. Ito ay simbolo ng tunay na pagkakaisa, isang nag-aapoy na sulo na nagtuturo sa mga tao patungo sa liwanag ng kalayaan.

Ngunit hindi pa tapos ang pakikibaka. Maraming hamon pa ang kinakaharap ng ating bansa. Kailangan pa rin ng mga Pilipino na magkaisa at magpatuloy sa paglaban para sa katarungan at demokrasya. Kailangan nating ipaalala sa mga nasa kapangyarihan na ang mga tao ang tunay na may kapangyarihan. Kailangan nating ipaglaban ang mga karapatan ng bawat Pilipino.

𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗮𝗻, 𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗗𝗦𝗔! Tayo ang magpapatuloy sa pakikibaka para sa demokrasya at katarungan. Hindi natin hahayaang mawala ang diwa ng EDSA! Mabuhay ang Pilipinong patuloy na lalaban! Mabuhay ang diwa ng EDSA!

The Ateneo de Naga University - Liderato kan Nueva Atenista with the Camarines Sur Polytechnic College-Supreme Student Council, the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines, student governments, publications and other youth organizations in Bicol stands in defense of campus press freedom and the right to conduct and publish election-related surveys.

𝐖𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐞-𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝟕𝟎𝟕𝟗 (𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟏). The Declaration of Policy under Section 2 of the said law guarantees the upholding and protection of the freedom of the press at the campus level. Moreover, Section 4 further states that the editorial policies are within the discretion of the editorial board and publication staff. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.

The recent events at CSPC, where preference poll results were taken down following pressure from both political and administrative entities, raise serious concerns about the state of campus press freedom in our region. Such actions potentially violate not only RA 7079 but also the constitutional guarantees of press freedom enshrined in Article III, Section 4 of our Constitution.

We emphasize the following points:
1. Student publications have the legal right to conduct and publish surveys as part of their journalistic functions, provided these are done with proper methodology.
2. The intimidation or coercion of student journalists, whether direct or indirect, is contrary to both the letter and spirit of the Campus Journalism Act.
3. Academic institutions have a responsibility to protect, not suppress, independent campus journalism, as it plays a vital role in fostering critical thinking and civic engagement among students.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥. We remind all stakeholders that statistical validity is not determined by total population size alone, but by proper sampling methodology – which The SPARK appears to have followed.

We call on:
• The CSPC administration to reaffirm its commitment to protecting campus press freedom.
• Local political figures to respect the independence of student publications.
• Congress to expedite the passage of House Bill No. 1155 or the Campus Press Freedom Bill, which would strengthen protections for campus journalists
• Fellow student governments and organizations to stand united in defending campus journalism.
• The Commission on Higher Education to issue guidelines protecting student publications from political interference.

We remain committed to defending the rights of student journalists to report on matters of public interest without fear or favor. The ability to conduct and publish election-related surveys is not just a journalistic right but a vital contribution to democratic discourse within our academic communities.

'𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗔 𝗞𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗔 𝗡𝗚 𝗟𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗧,'

Lumipas na ang isang semestre. Lumipas na ang maikling panahong parte ng ating mahabang krusada sa pagpapahalaga at paglaban sa malawak na hanay ng estudyante. Maraming pangyayari ang bumuo sa matibay na haligi ng palasyong buhangin. Masakit ang konsepto ng pagsisilbi, sa pormang tanggap at hindi tanggap ng tao.

Maraming karanasan ang humubog ng pag-iisip ng mga solusyon sa problema ng kampus, pagsulong sa paraang ibinigay ng pagkakataon, at pag-ibig sa pamantasan.

Sa nakalipas na halos pitong buwan, hindi lang tayo basta nagtrabaho. Sa bawat pagpupuyat, sa bawat pagsisikap, sa bawat pag-uusap, ibinuhos natin ang ating mga puso at prinsipyo.

Sa bawat tagumpay, sa bawat hamon, pinatunayan natin ang ating husay, tapang, at talino. Lahat ng ito, para sa ating kolehiyo, para sa ating mahal na pamantasan. Para maibalik, at higit pang maitaas, ang dangal, karangalan, at tiwala sa ating Konseho.

Hindi ang unang semestre ang katapusan. Ito'y simula lamang ng mas malawak nating laban, ng mas matinding pagsusumikap. Sa bawat pagbagsak, laging pipiliing bumangon— nang mas matibay—dala ang pag-asa at kwento ng CSSPnians.
