𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐍

A one family, bound by time and changed by choices. A film that explores grief, misunderstanding, mental illness, and emotional
distance that forms within a family after loss. Set around the New Year, the story follows a happy family composed of a mother, a father, and their three daughters as they gather to welcome
the coming year, the new year — their favorite moment every year. What begins as a warm and joyful celebration slowly reveals underlying tensions, unspoken truths, and emotional
states hidden beneath their smiles.

The film focuses on the family misunderstanding between the parents and their daughters. Isabella, the responsible and accomplished eldest. Camille, the rebellious and emotionally conflicted middle child. And Luna, the youngest, who appears
carefree but carries deep emotional wounds. During New Year’s celebration, moments of unease emerge, particularly surrounding
the mother’s strange behavior and secretive medication. Despite the laughter, joy, comfort, cracks in the family’s harmony begin to surface.

As the story progresses into the present, the family is no longer complete. The father has died, and the sisters now live separate lives, each shaped by grief in different ways. Isabella
is successful but emotionally distant. Camille struggles with resentment and regret. Luna has grown withdrawn and guarded. Their mother, left alone, clings to memories of the past while
secretly battling a psychological condition that causes her to deny her husband’s death, continuing to see and speak to him as if he were still alive.

The tension reaches its peak when the sisters reunite for another New Year’s gathering. Long-suppressed emotions erupt as they confront one another about abandonment, pressure, jealousy,
and unresolved pain following their father’s death. Luna ultimately reveals the truth about their mother’s condition and her ongoing therapy, forcing the sisters to face the reality they have all avoided. The confrontation exposes the depth of
their grief but also opens the possibility of healing.

Time does not heal wounds on its own but the only truth, communication, and acceptance can. The New Year countdown becomes a symbol not just of time passing, but of second chances. Countdown explores themes of family, loss, mental health, unresolved grief, and the painful process of moving forward, reminding viewers that healing begins when silence ends.

FILM SYNOPSIS

In the tense silence of finals week, perfectionist Auri Castro’s organized world collides with Theo Ramirez’s chaotic rhythm when they are paired for the final project of their second semester.
Progress of the research project and a bond slowly happens inside the school library. What initially begins as Auri's irritation over Theo's disorganized and irresponsible laid-back personality grows into an unexpected bond, tested by gossip, class divides, and family expectations.
