Consistency is key to raising a child with positive values. It starts with us, the parents and teachers.

Get ready for another Positive Parenting Tip.
Quick Tips Series #10

Tip #11 Set Clear and Consistent Boundaries

Children feel safer when they know what's expected of them. Clear rules give them a sense of structure, and consistency helps them learn what behaviors are acceptable and otherwise.

Avoid changing rules frequently or making vague expectations—this can confuse children and lead to frustration or defiance. For example, if bedtime is 8:00 PM, keep it consistent and explain why rest is important.

Catch your child doing something right… not the other way around!

Here's another Quick Tip for Positive Parenting

Series #9 Tip #10 Use Positive Reinforcement

Catch your child doing something good and acknowledge it. Praise and encouragement can motivate them to keep making good choices.

For example, “Thank you for helping your brother, that was kind,” reinforces helpful behavior more effectively than punishing the opposite.

Listening is a vital skill to develop trust and deepen the bond between parent and child.

Positive Parenting: Quick Tips Series #8

Tip #9. Listen Actively

Children need to feel heard. When they talk, stop what you’re doing, make eye contact, and truly listen without jumping in too soon with advice or judgment. Reflecting back what they say (“So you felt upset when that happened?”) helps them feel validated and encourages them to open up more in the future.

Hurray!

Another Sage Gratitude from Constance, who was once a Sage and Cambridge Student.

----

I graduated from the London School of Economics with a Master of Science in Global Health Policy.

Throughout my studies, I was often reminded of the fundamental influence my time at Sage & Cambridge had on my personal development. What truly enabled me to thrive in such a demanding environment was the curiosity for life that the school awakened in me. Not only were we intellectually stimulated, but we also learned how to open our hearts to international relationships that have endured over the years.

I am incredibly thankful to the Sage & Cambridge team for laying the foundation for my personal trajectory.”

The mark of a Sage & Cambridge graduate from preschool until grade 10!

LOOK: a note of appreciation from Johnver Christian, a Sage alumnus from the Class of 2020.

--------
When people think of a Computer Science student most often the image they
come up with in their heads is withdrawn and anti-social, spending most of their day locked in the comforts of their room, either coding or playing video games. Although true to an extent for some, Sage has taught me one of my most valuable skills, which is why I was able to land my job in the first place, sociability and what it means to be a learning leader. Oftentimes opportunity is lurking right around the corner, but people are too often scared to approach or don't have the heart to ask. Sage Prep Schoolhouse with events such as business expo, speech events, training, and a generally friendly atmosphere cultivated my nature of being a go-getter, ambitious, and respectful at the same time. Without Sage, I can say with confidence that I would not be who I am today and would not have the heart to take risks, the mind to calculate them, and the hands to execute.

Johnver Christian is a 3rd Year student at Ateneo de
Manila University taking up double degree courses: Bachelor
of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in
Digital Game Design & Development. He works two jobs at
Alpas Pinas as a graphic designer and at the Ateneo
Laboratory for the Learning Sciences in Ateneo de Manila University as a student
assistant specialized in 3D modelling. Juggling with school
and work, he still manages to achieve a dean's list in school.
His passion for photography has helped him develop his
photo shooting and editing skills.
Looking back to his formative years, Sage has been a
pillar of who he is today. A young man with big dreams who is
ready to conquer the challenges in life and be the best in his
own way.

Keep calm and continue on....

Positive Parenting: Quick Tips series on instilling positive values in young children
Series #4
Tip #5 Model calm, not control.

Ever notice how your child mirrors your mood?

When we respond with calm – especially during a challenging moment, we’re not just “keeping the peace.” We’re actually teaching our child how to manage his own big feelings.

Instead of yelling when they spill something, try taking a deep breath and saying, “Oops, let’s clean this up together.”

This may seem small, but this kind of calm modeling builds emotional resilience, empathy, and self-control – positive core values that will guide your child throughout life.

Remember: A child learns how to respond to the world by watching how we do it.
