ABEL UPDATE/ BES TEACHERS HARNESS AI, CANVA FOR INNOVATIVE LEARNING RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Teachers of Bulbulala Elementary School strengthened their digital and instructional competencies as the school conducted a School-Based In-Service Training (INSET) on AI-Enhanced Pedagogy and CANVA for Teaching and Learning Resource Development, aimed at equipping teachers with innovative tools to enhance classroom instruction.

The training highlighted the practical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Canva in developing engaging, relevant, and learner-centered learning resources. The activity formed part of the school’s continuing efforts to equip teachers with skills responsive to the evolving demands of 21st-century education.

As part of the session, Mr. Silvestre Quiday,Master Teacher II, shared updates and reminders on the conduct of Classroom Observation for School Year 2026–2027. The topic was deliberately integrated into the INSET as classroom observation provides teachers an avenue to apply their learnings, particularly in demonstrating how technology-assisted resources can support effective teaching and learning.

Drawing from his experience in a previously attended Division Training on Canva, Mr. Abdul Mannan Omar, PDO I, shared practical techniques and valuable insights on maximizing CANVA in the preparation and enhancement of learning resource materials.

Meanwhile, Mr. Anthony Paiste, Master Teacher 1/OIC of Malabbaga ES, introduced the teachers to the potential of AI and Canva as powerful instructional tools, demonstrating how these technologies can assist them in generating, designing, enhancing, and customizing resources based on specific teaching and learning needs.

The session moved beyond discussion as teachers participated in hands-on exercises, allowing them to explore AI-powered features and CANVA tools firsthand. The activity sparked enthusiasm as teachers discovered new possibilities and experimented with ways to make resource preparation more creative, efficient, and purposeful.

Adding a strong call to action, Mrs. Catherine Baruela-Codiamat, Principal II, challenged the teachers to use AI and CANVA responsibly, purposefully, and strategically, emphasizing that these emerging technologies should not merely make teachers’ work easier but should ultimately make teaching more effective.

She likewise reiterated the importance of putting their learnings into practice, particularly in the preparation of learning resources that respond to the actual needs and learning gaps of learners. She emphasized that maximizing these tools should go beyond creating visually appealing materials, it should translate into better classroom instruction, stronger learner engagement, and improved learner performance.

The School-Based INSET underscored the school’s commitment to continuous professional development and responsible innovation, empowering teachers to harness technology as a tool for better teaching and improved learning.

ABEL Update/ BULBULALA ES LAUNCHES SBFP 2026–2027, PROVIDES NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT TO 65 LEARNERS

Bulbulala Elementary School officially commenced the implementation of the School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) for School Year 2026–2027, benefiting 65 learners through an orientation of beneficiaries and parents, program launching, and distribution of nutritious food products.

The activity provided an avenue for the school to orient the identified beneficiaries and their parents on the objectives, guidelines, procedures, and expectations in the implementation of the SBFP. The orientation also emphasized the important role of parents in supporting the proper participation of learners and reinforcing healthy practices at home.

For the current school year, all Kindergarten and Grade 1 learners are identified as primary SBFP beneficiaries regardless of nutritional status. Meanwhile, beneficiaries from Grades 2 to 6 are identified from among learners classified as wasted and severely wasted, based on nutritional assessment.

The SBFP is a regular annual program of the Department of Education (DepEd) that provides nutritional support to qualified learners as part of the Department’s continuing efforts to address undernutrition and promote the health and well-being of schoolchildren. Through the program, DepEd seeks to help improve learners’ nutritional status and support their attendance, participation, and readiness to learn.

Following the orientation, the school formally launched the feeding program and distributed nutritious food products to the 65 identified beneficiaries, marking the start of the school’s feeding intervention for SY 2026–2027.
