"𝐖𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐆𝐨𝐝.”

From a Catholic perspective, this means that the worship of adoration, called latria, is given to God alone Father, Son, and Holy Spirit because He alone is our Creator and Savior. The honor we give to Mary and the Saints is called veneration, or dulia. We respect them, celebrate their holy lives, and ask them to pray for us just as we would ask fellow Christians here on earth. Mary receives a special honor called hyperdulia as the Mother of God, but this is still not worship. Catholics do not pray to Saints as if they were gods, but ask for their intercession to bring us closer to Christ. In this way, honoring the Saints never takes away from God; rather, it points us back to Him.
