Eight old manual sewing machines may seem like simple pieces of equipment but for Rizal National School of Arts and Trades (RNSAT), they carry a much bigger story.

The sewing units were transferred at no cost from Tanudan Vocational School (TVS) to RNSAT following a request from RNSAT School Head Fernando S. Galdoc and in response, TVS School Head Percival B. Calwing generously facilitated the transfer.

Galdoc personally traveled to Tanudan to receive the sewing equipment, accompanied by Jomar Antonio, Administrative Assistant III. The eight manual sewing units will serve as instructional materials for the Dressmaking specialization under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, which has seen a sharp increase in enrollment this school year.
But getting them to RNSAT was a journey of its own.

For the learners and parents of TVS, transporting the machines was far from easy.

The sewing units were manually hauled using an โ€œassiw,โ€ or carrying pole (usually matured bamboo), with one unit secured at each end of the pole and balanced carefully across the haulerโ€™s shoulder. Maintaining steady footing and proper balance was crucial as the learners and parents carried the heavy load for about 30 minutes from the school to the main roadโ€”a journey that could take up to an hour for those unfamiliar with the trail.

Then came the rain.

The trail became slippery and muddy, making every step more difficult. Yet the learners and parents continued carrying the machines. Their shoulders bore the weight of old equipment, but their hearts carried something greaterโ€”a willingness to help another school.

At the main road, the sewing units were loaded onto a Schools Division Office pickup vehicle driven by Rudy Gacayan, with the assistance of EPS-DSO Silverio W. Tawatao, marking the final leg of their journey to RNSAT.

The machines may have been unserviceable when they left Tanudan but the spirit behind the donation remained unwavering.

There is something distinctly warm about Tanudan.

Perhaps it is the aroma of its coffee, which many locals love. Perhaps it is the hospitality of its people or it is the generosity that made this transfer possible.

The gesture showed that the warmth of Tanudan is not found only in a cup of freshly brewed coffee. It can also be felt in the willingness of its people to lend a hand, even when that hand must carry a sewing machine through rain and mud.

Even the name Tanudan adds a meaningful layer to the story. The Kalinga root word โ€œtanudโ€ means needleโ€”a fitting connection to the sewing machines that have now found another purpose in RNSAT.

From tanud, a needle, comes a story of people helping stitch together opportunities for learners.

The gesture embodies the spirit of โ€œProgressive Tanudanโ€โ€”progress achieved not only through development, but through generosity and cooperation.

RNSAT is deeply grateful for the support extended by TVS, its school head, learners and parents. What may have been considered old or unserviceable equipment in one school can still become a valuable learning resource in another.

For RNSAT, once the eight machines are repaired, it means more opportunities for learners to practice, create and develop skills that may eventually become their livelihood.

From the muddy trails of Tanudan to the classroom of RNSAT, the machines traveled with a message: education becomes stronger when schools help one another.

And as they manipulated by the hands of RNSAT learners, the machines may once again produce something meaningfulโ€”not only garments, but skills, confidence and dreams.

Progressive Tanudan has reached Raniag Rizalโ€”not merely through eight sewing machines, but through eight pieces of equipment carried by many shoulders and given with one big heart.

Who would have thought that a seven-year-old girlโ€™s dream would lead her to the national stage? What started as a young girlโ€™s interest in Taekwondo became a journey filled with hard work and determination for ๐‘๐ž๐ฎ๐ง๐š ๐Œ๐š๐ฒ ๐’. ๐“๐š๐-๐จ.

Reuna started pursuing Taekwondo when she was seven years old. Her father, who was once a Taekwondo athlete inspired her to take up the sport. Although he was unable to continue because of financial difficulties, his experience became Reunaโ€™s inspiration to pursue Taekwondo. Since then, she has continued to improve and joined different competitions like the National New Face 2022 where she won first place and in Batang Pinoy 2025 where she finished in the Top 11 out of 80 participants.

Then came the day when Reunaโ€™s progress and improvement would be put to the test.

On July 5, 2026, she competed in the National Taekwondo Championships โ€“ Poomsae at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila. She placed fourth among 28 participants with a score of 8.467, the highest score she had ever achieved in her Taekwondo career so far, marking a significant milestone in her growth as an athlete.

To prepare for the competition, she trained every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday in Tabuk. On the other days, she did self-training and attended online training sessions. However, preparing for the competition was not easy because she also had to balance her training with her academic responsibilities.

Although Reuna had already competed at the national level, this competition felt different. After feeling that she had not performed well in a previous national competition, she used the experience as motivation to improve. This time, she stepped onto the mat, determined to give her best and achieving the highest score she had ever earned in her Taekwondo career.

For Reuna, the score was more than a result. It reflected the progress she had made through consistent training, and sacrifices. It showed her that the challenges she faced while balancing academics and Taekwondo were worth overcoming.

Through Taekwondo, Reuna learned the value of discipline and determination. She believes that success takes time, hard work, and consistency.

She is indeed an inspiration to the aspiring student-athletes of RNSAT.

In her own ways, she encourages them to keep training, listen to their coaches, and never let criticism make them doubt their abilities. She carries these principles with her as she balances the demands of being a student-athlete, SSLG Vice President, and consistent honor student among the other hats she proudly wears.

โ€œI want to leave a legacy where people know me as someone who is persistentโ€”someone who never gives up, no matter how hard life gets,โ€ she remarked.

Reunaโ€™s journey shows that achievements are not earned in a single moment but built through every challenge, sacrifice, and decision to keep going. As she continues to pursue Taekwondo in her final year of high school, she proves that those who refuse to give up can turn their dreams into reality.

The stage was set for the inauguration of the RNSAT School Clinic, but the spotlight found something moreโ€”a new voice ready to be heard.

Angel Zaragoza, a Grade 10 Section Faith student and RNSATโ€™s newest singing sensation, captivated the audience with her powerful rock rendition of โ€œWhen I Dream About You.โ€

Backed by a young band whose electrifying performance brought concert-like energy to the program, Angel transformed an ordinary intermission number into a moment to remember.

With the support and guidance of Sir Dariel Dave Cabreros, Sir Glen Bawagan, Maโ€™am Krisha Ranjo, Sir Nolly Perez, and Sir Edmundo Pardito, Angel confidently delivered the song while the audience listened, watched, and eventually applauded the performance.

But Angel was not alone.

Behind her was a powerhouse group of young musicians: Heinrich Merin on drums, Christian Tolo-an on lead guitar, Melvin Fernandez on rhythm guitar, June Mallory Pardito on piano, and Sven Balatibat on bass. Christian, in particular, added extra fire to the performance with his impressive guitar shredding.

The crowd could hardly hide its excitement.

โ€œSino jay singer yu, Ser? Naglaing kunam la nu concert talaga pinagkankanta na!โ€

The spontaneous reaction captured what many listeners were feelingโ€”the performance did not feel like an ordinary school intermission number. For a few minutes, the clinic-opening program felt like a live concert.

Angelโ€™s voice, matched with the bandโ€™s tight performance and Christianโ€™s electrifying guitar work, gave โ€œWhen I Dream About Youโ€ a new identityโ€”louder, bolder, and unmistakably RNSAT.

Perhaps this is the beginning of something new.

RNSAT has been waiting for a voice. Today, Angel Zaragoza gave it one.

A โ‚ฑ5.9-million school health clinic now stands at Rizal National School of Arts and Trades (RNSAT), giving learners a facility dedicated to their health and well-being while in school.

The newly completed clinic was formally inaugurated and turned over on August 14, 2026, marking another step in the schoolโ€™s efforts to provide learners with a safer and more supportive learning environment.

Constructed under Contract ID 25PL0142, the facility was implemented through the Department of Public Works and Highwaysโ€“Lower Kalinga District Engineering Office (DPWH-LKDEO), with Aquaterra Konstrukt, Inc. serving as contractor.

For School Principal III Fernando S. Galdoc, the new clinic answers a practical need of the school while reflecting the support and cooperation of the agencies and stakeholders behind the project.

โ€œThis clinic gives us a proper place where we can attend to the health needs of our learners, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this project possible,โ€ Galdoc said.

He added that the school would ensure the proper use and care of the facility so that it could continue serving RNSAT learners in the years to come.

School Nurse Beatrix Jo S. Fos-oy welcomed the new clinic, saying the facility would allow the school to attend to learners in a more appropriate and comfortable setting.

โ€œThis will be a place where our learners can receive not only immediate care when they are sick or injured, but also the comfort, guidance, and support they need while they are in school,โ€ Fos-oy said.

With the completion of the โ‚ฑ5.9-million facility, RNSAT now has a dedicated space for first aid, basic nursing care, health assessment, and other school health services.

Rizal National School of Arts and Trades (RNSAT) inaugurated its first-ever school clinic building on August 14, giving learners a permanent facility for health care and other school health services.

The newly completed clinic marks a significant addition to the schoolโ€™s facilities as RNSAT strengthens its efforts to provide a safer, healthier, and more supportive environment for its learners.

Rev. Fr. Atty. Romeo Dawaton officiated the blessing of the clinic following a ceremonial ribbon-cutting that formally opened the facility to the school community.

The symbolic key to the newly completed building was then turned over by Dionaldo B. Daway of Aquaterra Construction, Inc. to District Engineer Ruby A. Uyam, Schools Division Superintendent Gloria B. Buya-ao, and RNSAT School Principal III Fernando S. Galdoc.

Uyam emphasized the importance of quality, safety, and functionality in the project and expressed hope that the facility would help create a healthier and more supportive learning environment for RNSAT learners.

For School Nurse Beatrix S. Fos-oy, having a dedicated clinic gives the school an appropriate space where learners can receive immediate attention when they become sick or injured while on campus.

โ€œThe clinic is more than just a physical structure; it is a place where our learners can find care, comfort, and support when they need it,โ€ Fos-oy said.

Atty. Prielle Balnao, representing the Office of the Provincial Governor, reaffirmed the provincial governmentโ€™s support for initiatives that promote the welfare and development of learners.

โ€œOur commitment goes beyond infrastructure,โ€ Balnao said, adding that the government seeks to support communities where every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed.

Kalinga Lone District Representative Caroline B. Agyao also stressed the importance of providing learners with an environment where they feel safe and supported.

โ€œSchools are the second home of our learners,โ€ Agyao said, noting that the guidance and support of teachers and other adults help learners feel safe, valued, and empowered to become responsible citizens.

Galdoc, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to the government agencies, officials, project implementers, and other stakeholders who contributed to the completion of RNSATโ€™s first school clinic building.

โ€œThis clinic gives us a proper place where we can attend to the health needs of our learners, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this project possible,โ€ Galdoc said.

He also pledged to work with school personnel and stakeholders to ensure the proper use and maintenance of the facility so that it can continue serving RNSAT learners in the years to come.

With the inauguration of this new facility, RNSAT now has a dedicated space for first aid, basic nursing care, health assessment, and other services aimed at protecting the health and well-being of its learners.
