This Wednesday, August 26, 2026, we celebrate 1448 Hijrah Maulidun Nabi, or the birthday of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W., corresponding to the 12th day of the Islamic lunar month of Rabiโ€™ al-Awwal 1448H. Peace be upon him.

It is a day to remember his life, his kindness, and the values he taught us: love, respect, compassion, and helping others.

It has been officially announced that there will be no classes on Wednesday, August 26, as issued by NCMF Secretary Sabuddin N. Abdulrahim, in recognition of this legal Muslim holiday. This gives us an opportunity to spend time with our families, reflect, pray, and do good deeds.

Even if we are not in school, our class is still part of the celebration. Let us honor this meaningful day by being kinder to one another and by following the example of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

Supporting the operational needs of student leaders, the Office of Student Affairs turns over office supplies to the Local Student Governments from various colleges on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. at the Administration Building.

The activity brought together OSA representatives, college deans, Local Student Government advisers, and LSG representatives from the different colleges for the formal distribution and receipt of office supplies intended to support the administrative and organizational functions of the respective student governments.

This underscored OSAโ€™s continued institutional support for student governance by providing LSGs with essential resources to carry out their administrative responsibilities, implement student-centered programs and initiatives, and effectively serve the student body.

Answering the call to be prepared, the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) proudly recognizes its students who participated in ALERTO: Basic Life Support and Emergency Preparedness Training on August 22, 2026, at the ULS Convention Hall and Gymnasium.

โ€œALERTO was a good refresher of the knowledge and skills I learned before as an RCY volunteer. It helped me recall the proper ways of responding during emergencies,โ€ said Aldrine Arguelles, President of the CASS Mayorโ€™s League, highlighting the importance of practicing and maintaining emergency response skills.

Through their participation, the students gained essential knowledge and practical skills in basic life support and emergency preparedness, skills that extend beyond the classroom and may prove valuable when immediate action is needed.

Congratulations to our CASS participants! May the skills you gained through ALERTO empower you to respond with confidence whenever the call to help comes.

On August 21, 1983, the political figure Ninoy Aquino Jr. died as he landed at Manila International Airport. He was known for fighting for democracy during Ferdinand Marcos Sr.โ€™s term. His death drove Filipinos to fight for their rights and inspired the movement that eventually led to the restoration of democracy in the country.

Today, Filipinos continue to commemorate Ninoy Aquino Jr.โ€™s legacy through the celebration of Ninoy Aquino Day, a special non-working holiday held every August 21.
