Sassy Sunshine Homeschool

Sassy Sunshine Homeschool Gentle homeschool • mom of 2 • learning peace through exhaustion I’m a stay-at-home mom homeschooling my eight-year-old and my three-year-old at home together.

Sassy Sunshine is a quiet space for mothers homeschooling children of different ages while still growing in motherhood themselves. Our days hold reading lessons, picture books, toddler interruptions, nature walks, snacks, emotions, and many chances to begin again. Some days are calm. Some days I’m overstimulated and exhausted before noon. Some days I need a reset before my children do. Here you’ll

find encouragement for:
• Charlotte Mason homeschooling
• Homeschooling multiple ages together
• Early years learning beside formal lessons
• Postpartum rage, exhaustion, and emotional overload
• Gentle routines after hard mornings
• Learning through living books & nature

This is not a perfect homeschool. This is a lived-in home where the mother is learning too. We believe:
Children are born persons
Mothers are persons too
Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life
Peace in the home often begins with the parent calming first

If you’re trying to teach different ages at the same time while managing your own emotions — you belong here.

🌿 AUGUST PASABUY FEATURED PRODUCT: YOUNG LIVING SULFURZYME®

This is one of those supplements whose name doesn’t immediately tell you why you might want to know about it. 😅

Sulfurzyme® is primarily an MSM supplement. MSM, or methylsulfonylmethane, is a naturally occurring sulfur compound. Young Living combines it with NingXia wolfberry fruit powder in its Philippine formulation.

Why does that matter?

Sulfur is part of the building blocks our bodies use for connective tissues and proteins, which is why MSM supplements are often associated with joint, bone, hair, and skin support. Young Living Philippines specifically positions Sulfurzyme for overall wellness, including support for the joints, bones, hair, skin, normal metabolism, circulation, and immune function.

What caught my attention most is the joint support.

As we get older—or simply spend our days carrying children, doing housework, working, gardening, exercising, standing for long hours, or just constantly moving—sometimes we become much more aware of our knees, backs, shoulders and other joints than we used to be. 😂

Sulfurzyme isn't a pain medicine, and I wouldn't look at it as a quick fix. I see it more as daily nutritional support for the body we're asking to keep moving for us every single day.

🌱 What’s inside?
• MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) — a dietary source of sulfur
• NingXia wolfberry fruit powder
• 180 capsules in the current Philippine listing

And one important distinction from some of the older graphics circulating online: formulations can differ by country and over time. So when buying in the Philippines, I would follow the current Philippine label rather than assuming every ingredient or claim shown in an older international graphic applies to our bottle.

🛒 Available for August Pasabuy

This might be worth looking into if you're becoming more intentional about joint and connective-tissue nutrition, especially as you get older and start thinking beyond just “getting through the day.”

Curious: what part of your body reminds you first that you're not 20 anymore—knees, back, shoulders, or all of the above? 😂

🌿 AUGUST PASABUY FEATURED PRODUCT: YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL MAGNESIUM™

Tired. Stressed. Hirap matulog. Parang laging drained kahit hindi naman sobrang dami ng ginawa.

Sometimes, what we call “pagod lang” can also be our body reminding us that basic nutrients matter—and magnesium is one of those minerals involved in hundreds of processes in the body.

Young Living Essential Magnesium™ combines marine-derived magnesium citrate and magnesium hydroxide with melon juice concentrate and Bergamot Vitality™. Magnesium is important for normal muscle and nerve function, energy metabolism, and many enzyme reactions in the body.

What I like about this one is that it fits into real everyday needs—not as a miracle capsule, but as nutritional support for people who are constantly running on empty.

For moms, busy women, dads, people working long days, or anyone who feels like their body is always “on,” magnesium is worth learning more about.

✨ Why magnesium matters
• supports normal muscle function
• supports normal nervous-system function
• contributes to normal energy metabolism
• plays a role in hundreds of enzyme reactions in the body

And I want to be careful with one thing: symptoms like poor sleep, headaches, muscle cramps, fatigue, anxiety, or palpitations do not automatically mean magnesium deficiency. Those can have many possible causes. A supplement should support good nutrition—not replace proper medical care when something feels wrong.

So this isn’t a “take this and everything gets better” kind of product.

It’s more like: are we giving our bodies the nutrients they need while asking so much from them every single day?

Which one have you been struggling with lately—energy, sleep, stress, or tired muscles?

🌸 AUGUST PASABUY FEATURED PRODUCT: YOUNG LIVING ISOVON CAPSULES 🌸

This month, I wanted to feature something specifically made with women’s wellness in mind—because our bodies do not stay the same through our 20s, 30s, 40s, motherhood, perimenopause, and beyond.

Isovon Capsules is a plant-based Young Living supplement formulated to provide targeted nutritional support for female reproductive health. Young Living describes it as intended for adult women through different stages of their reproductive years.

It contains a blend of traditional botanicals including Kacip Fatimah, Kudzu/Gegen, Manjakani, and Soybean extract, plus Wolfberry powder. These plants have histories of traditional use in women's wellness, while soy naturally contains plant isoflavones.

What caught my attention about this product is that women's needs really do change over time. Periods, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, then eventually perimenopause and menopause can each bring their own changes. And sometimes we become so busy taking care of everyone else that our own changing bodies become the last thing we pay attention to.

This may be something worth looking into for women who are becoming more intentional about supporting their nutrition and overall wellness as they age—not because one capsule can magically “balance hormones” or treat every symptom, but because women's nutritional needs deserve attention too.

💊 Suggested use: 2 capsules once daily after a meal.
🌿 60 vegetable capsules
🇵🇭 Current Young Living Philippines listed price: ₱1,420 wholesale / ₱1,868 retail.

Available for my August Pasabuy. 💗

If you’re interested, message me and I can send you the product details so you can decide whether it fits what you're looking for.

And ladies—especially those already noticing changes as we move through our 30s and 40s—what change in your body surprised you the most as you got older? Mine is realizing just how much women's wellness changes from one season of life to another.

Food supplement only. No approved therapeutic claims. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, have a hormone-sensitive condition, or have an ongoing medical concern, check with your doctor before using a herbal supplement.

Small things like this matter to me. My husband usually buys our meat from the palengke. And having fish pre cut and cleaned is extremely helpful for me. It is not something that is automatically done when buying fish.

Teaching myself to read for me again. 📚
I haven't exactly stopped reading these past few years.
I read a lot for homeschooling—living books, children's literature, history, nature books, and whatever else we're learning together.
But reading outside of homeschooling? For me?
That quietly disappeared somewhere along the way.
For a while now, I've struggled to sit down with a book and actually focus. My mind wanders. I reread paragraphs. Sometimes I realize I've gone through an entire page without really absorbing it.
Maybe that's what happens when you've spent years in survival mode.
There is always something that needs attention. Something to solve. Something to worry about. And eventually, even when you finally have a quiet moment, your mind doesn't necessarily know how to become quiet with you.
So I'm trying again.
This time, I'm starting with Five Business Lessons.
Not a homeschool book. Not something I'm reading aloud to the kids. Not something I need to turn into a lesson.
A book for me.
After this, I want to go back to reading about inspiring people—one person at a time. Their lives, failures, decisions, struggles, and the things they eventually built.
I don't know how quickly I'll get through them.
That's not really the point.
Because this isn't just about finishing books.
After spending so much time simply trying to keep everything going, this is me fighting to regain a part of myself that I haven't had much room for lately.
One page at a time.
Reading for me again. ❤️

🌲 Tonight’s Diffuser Blend: Quiet Forest 🌙

Friends kumusta ang isip mo tonight?
Not your body—your mind.

Because sometimes the house is already quiet, the kids are settling down, the work for the day is technically finished… pero ang utak, may meeting pa rin. 😅

Thinking about tomorrow.
The budget.
The business.
The bills that keep coming.
The decisions that still need to be made.
And all the ordinary responsibilities of raising a family.
Some seasons are simply heavier than others.
So tonight, I wanted something simple in the diffuser—woodsy, soft, and comforting.

🌌 QUIET FOREST
🌲 4 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce
💜 3 drops Lavender
✨ 2 drops Frankincense

Black Spruce gives it that deep evergreen scent, Lavender softens everything, and Frankincense adds a warm, resinous depth.
It smells like the kind of place I wish I could disappear into for a few quiet minutes—a peaceful forest, cool air, no notifications, no numbers to think about. 😂🌲
Of course, a diffuser doesn't make the problems disappear.
But that's never really why I diffuse.
It's part of creating a home atmosphere that tells me: the day is done.
There will be things to deal with tomorrow. There always are.
For tonight, I can turn down the lights, diffuse something beautiful, pray, be grateful for what we made it through today, and allow myself to rest.
Tomorrow, we begin again. 🤍
What follows you to bed lately—the mental to-do list, finances, work, motherhood, or something else?
And what little ritual helps tell your brain, “Okay, we're done for today”? 🌙
✨ If you want to try any of the oils I share, August Pasabuy is open. Priority for North & South Cotabato para sabay shipping, but pwede nationwide. Payment first; shipping fee not included.

Week 6 • Day 1

Breakfast was leftover adobong duck from last night's dinner, followed by our Bible reading in Joshua 6.

People might wonder why I so often mention what we eat in these journals. The answer is simple. Every meal is a reminder that God faithfully provides. Even through the financial challenges we have faced since opening our store, He has never failed to put food on our table. Looking back through these daily entries reminds me that His provision has been constant, even when our circumstances have felt uncertain.

As we read about the fall of Jericho, we were reminded that God's instructions do not always make sense from a human perspective, yet obedience is always the wiser path. The Israelites marched in silence for six days, saying nothing until God commanded them to shout. It was a beautiful reminder that there is a time to be silent and a time to shout. Wisdom is knowing the difference, and faith is trusting God's timing.

During our discussion, J quietly said, "It is important to listen." Such a simple observation, yet it captures the heart of the passage. Before the Israelites could obey, they first had to listen carefully to what God had said.

We also talked about how obedience and disobedience lead to very different outcomes. Joshua's generation experienced the fulfillment of God's promise because they chose to obey, while the previous generation wandered in the wilderness because of unbelief and disobedience.

Another lesson that stood out to us was that God's plans will always prevail. Human disobedience may delay the fulfillment of His promises, but it can never stop them. God's purposes remain certain because He is faithful to His word.

We ended our lesson by reading Hebrews 11:30: "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days." It reminded us that the victory at Jericho was never about marching or shouting—it was about faith. Faith listens, faith obeys, faith waits patiently, and faith trusts God to do what only He can do.

These are the kinds of mornings that make homeschooling so meaningful—simple meals, an open Bible, thoughtful conversations, and daily reminders that God remains faithful in both the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Some homeschool mornings need energy.
Some mornings need calm before anything else. 🤍
Before we open the books, start Math, or begin our read-alouds, this goes into the diffuser:
