Sulu State University proudly congratulates the 71 newly registered nurses from the School of Nursing who successfully passed the August and September 2026 Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination (PNLE).

With 71 out of 88 first-time takers successfully passing the examination, the School of Nursing achieved an impressive 80.68% passing rate.

This achievement marks another milestone for Sulu State University and reflects the dedication, perseverance, and commitment of our nursing graduates, as well as the guidance and support of their faculty and mentors.

The University also extends its sincere gratitude to University President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, for her steadfast leadership, support, and commitment to advancing academic excellence and student success at Sulu State University.

Sulu State University Receives Plaque of Appreciation at 59th ASEAN Founding Anniversary Awarding Ceremony

Sulu State University (SuluSU) was honored with the WURI 2026 Plaque of Appreciation during the Culminating Activity and Awarding Ceremony of the 59th ASEAN Founding Anniversary (ASEAN Month Celebration), held on September 18, 2026, at the WMSU Gymnasium.

The recognition was given for the university’s outstanding achievement as one of the Global Top 500 Innovative Universities in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026, where it attained an overall Rank 274. This milestone further highlights the institution’s commendable performance in the following category rankings:

* Future-Oriented Responses to Global Uncertainty and Geopolitical Risk (A7) – Rank 84
* Visionary Leadership (B1) – Rank 73
* University-Based Entrepreneurial Projects (C7) – Rank 43

Sulu State University proudly celebrates the 15 newly Registered Social Workers who successfully passed the recent Social Workers Licensure Examination (SWLE), marking a historic milestone as the Pioneering Batch of Social Work graduates of Sulu State University.

With 15 out of 19 examinees successfully passing the examination, the pioneering batch achieved a 78.95% passing rate, surpassing the reported national passing rate of 76.27%.

Carrying the banner of Batch Salutis Servatores 15/19, these newly registered professionals have proven that dedication, perseverance, and excellence can pave the way for meaningful service to individuals, families, and communities.

The University, through the School of Social Work, extends its heartfelt congratulations to our pioneering Registered Social Workers, their families, faculty members, and the University President, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE for this remarkable achievement.

The celebration, set on September 16–18, 2026, honors the rich history, cultural heritage, identity, and enduring unity of the people of Sulu. As one Bangsa Sug, may this meaningful occasion continue to strengthen our shared commitment to preserving our heritage and building a peaceful, progressive, and united Sulu.

MEMORANDUM NOTICE
Pursuant to Provincial Ordinance No. 01, Series of 1993, the Provincial Government of Sulu, through the Office of Governor Abdusakur A. Tan II, has declared the following dates as Public Holidays throughout the Province of Sulu:

• September 16–17, 2026 (Wednesday–Thursday) – Public Holidays to allow the people of Sulu to witness and participate in the celebration.

Sulu State University proudly joined the Lingkod Bayani Run 2026 today, September 13, 2026, as part of the celebration of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

The SuluSU delegation was led by University President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, together with University and college officials, personnel, and other members of the SuluSU community.

SULUSU SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTS THREE-DAY UNIVERSITY CODE CRAFTING ENGAGEMENT

Sulu State University (SuluSU) successfully concluded its Three-Day University Code Crafting Engagement, a significant institutional undertaking aimed at strengthening the University’s governance framework and laying the foundation for the development of the SuluSU University Code 2026 on September 9-11, 2026 at Boardroom, Administration Bldg.

The three-day engagement brought together university officials, members of the Administrative and Academic Councils, faculty members and administrators for a series of discussions, consultations, and workshops focused on reviewing, analyzing, and developing the University’s Code.

The engagement formally began with the presentation of the Old SuluSU Code, led by University President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, who presented and discussed the existing Code as a basis for identifying areas for retention, modification, deletion, and revision. The presentation provided an important foundation for the succeeding discussions and the development of the proposed new University Code.

The succeeding sessions focused on the development of the skeletal framework of the new Code, including conceptualizing, contextualizing, and perspectivizing the proposed governance structure. Participants also worked on structuring and substantiating the new University Code, translating governance frameworks into policies, and comparing the proposed structure with the existing Code.

The final phase of the engagement focused on operationalizing university operations through the crafting and updating the code, identifying areas for change, ensuring alignment with the hierarchical governance framework, and preparing the necessary outputs toward Board approval.

SuluSU extends its sincere gratitude to the distinguished resource persons and facilitators who shared their expertise and valuable insights throughout the engagement Dr. Lilian De Las Llagas, Former Commissioner of CHED and Professor (Retired) of UP Manila; Atty. Rushid Jay S. Sancon, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Laguna State Polytechnic University; and Ms. Blaisdelle C. Regacho, Board Secretary of Laguna State Polytechnic. Their guidance and contributions greatly enriched the University Code crafting process.

The University likewise expresses its appreciation to President Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, for her leadership and for personally leading the presentation of the Old SuluSU Code, as well as to the SuluSU Administrative Council and Academic Council for their active participation, valuable inputs, and collective commitment to this important institutional endeavor.

SuluSU also extends its heartfelt thanks to all faculty members, administrators, staff, and participants who generously shared their time, knowledge, perspectives, and expertise throughout the three-day engagement.

The successful conduct of the University Code Crafting Engagement marks another important milestone in SuluSU’s continuing journey toward stronger governance, effective institutional systems, academic excellence, and a more responsive and future-ready university.
