The first term finally concluded, and what a meaningful journey it has been for HUMSS 5! 🎬✨

Through our Social Work Community-Based Immersion, we stepped beyond the classroom and into Barangay Kenram, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, where we listened to stories, witnessed realities, and learned from the people who make the community what it is.

Our documentary, “Tinig at Tungkulin: Amplifying Grassroots Stories in Community Practice,” brought together our experiences in Micro, Mezzo, and Macro Social Work Practice—from individual clients and community groups to organizations and institutions.

Behind every interview was a story of struggle, resilience, strength, and hope. More than identifying needs, we learned to recognize the dignity of every person, the strength of every community, and the importance of connecting people to the support and resources they need.

As we close the first term, we carry with us a deeper understanding that Social Work is not simply about helping—it is about listening, advocating, empowering, mobilizing, and standing with the community. 🤝❤️

To the people of Barangay Kenram who shared their time, stories, and experiences with us, thank you for allowing HUMSS 5 to learn from your community.

This is more than a documentary.
These are their voices. These are our learnings. This is our responsibility.

Not every struggle is visible. Some are hidden behind smiles, silence, and everyday routines. Across our homes, classrooms, friendships, and communities, many people quietly face pressures that others may never see.

“You Are Not Alone” is a reminder that healing does not have to happen in isolation. When we listen without judgment, understand without prejudice, and support without hesitation, we create a community where no one has to face their struggles alone.

Mental health is not only an individual concern—it is something we can care for together. A friend who listens, a teacher who understands, a family that supports, a counselor who guides, and a community that cares can become part of someone's journey toward hope and healing.

Because sometimes, what a person needs most is not an answer, but someone willing to say:

“I SEE YOU. I HEAR YOU. I’M HERE.” 💙

And when we choose to stand together, no one has to stand alone.

Beautiful Scars: A Story of Healing 💙

Behind every “beautiful scar” is a story of pain, courage, and healing. This music video portrays a student facing pressure within her abusive family and academic burnout. Through counseling, understanding, and support, she slowly finds her strength again, leading to improved academic performance and, most importantly, the return of her happiness.

This music video also reminds us that in every challenge we face, you are not alone. There are people willing to listen, support, and walk with us on our journey toward healing and recovery.

📌 What Is Power and Why Does It Matter?

Power plays a big role in our everyday lives—from the laws we follow, to the services we receive, to the voices we hear (or don’t hear) in society. But do we really understand what power is?

In this presentation, we’ll present the nature of power, its dimensions, types, and the consequences it has on ordinary Filipinos. Whether it’s used by leaders, institutions, or even within our homes and workplaces, power influences how decisions are made and who gets to make them.

👉 Why should we care?
Because knowing how power works helps us become more aware, more involved, and better equipped to protect our rights and contribute to positive change.

Awareness is the first step to empowerment.
Let’s learn. Let’s engage.

🇵🇭🙏 Today is the day. May 12, 2025.

As we step into the voting booths, may we be guided not by fear or habit, but by truth, conscience, and hope for a better nation.

Take a moment to pray — for wisdom, peace, and protection for every Filipino voter.
May this election be not just a change in leadership, but a renewal of our commitment to the country we love.
