The nation honors National Artist Francisca Reyes-Aquino on her 127th Birth Anniversary.

In the 1920s, Francisca Reyes-Aquino devoted herself to the exploration and documentation of folk dances, embarking on journeys through Central and Northern Luzon to reveal uncharted local celebrations and rituals. Her extensive research culminated in the 1926 thesis titled "Philippine Folk Dances and Games," which was designed to assist educators. Aquino's contributions championed folk dancing as a vital avenue for nurturing cultural identity among the youth of the Philippines, earning her the esteemed Republic Award of Merit in 1954 from President Ramon Magsaysay, alongside numerous accolades throughout her illustrious career.
