🧹 NSTP Students Take the Lead in Community Clean-Up Drive

Hardam Furigay Colleges Launches Eco-Initiative in Barangay Tabuk

Isabela City, Basilan – June 21, 2025 — In a spirited display of civic duty and environmental stewardship, students of the NSTP 2 – BSN 1-B and BSN C from Hardam Furigay Colleges conducted a Clean-Up Drive at Barangay Tabuk, Isabela City. The initiative was held under the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) program of the National Service Training Program (NSTP), a core component of service learning in the college.

Armed with cleaning tools, gloves, and unwavering enthusiasm, the student-volunteers swept sidewalks, cleared trash-filled corners, and collected litter from public spaces. The activity aimed to instill in students a sense of environmental responsibility while strengthening their connection to the community.

In partnership with the Barangay Tabuk Council, the event was warmly supported by the local government, with barangay officials commending the students for their discipline and teamwork. The barangay provided support in waste collection and logistics, ensuring the drive was efficient and impactful.

Aside from cleaning, the activity included a short orientation on waste segregation and the harmful effects of plastic pollution—further reinforcing the educational value of the effort.

The event marks just the beginning of a series of NSTP-led initiatives focused on community development and environmental awareness. A follow-up drive and a tree-planting activity are now being planned for the upcoming semester.

The success of the NSTP Clean-Up Drive stands as a shining example of how education, when paired with community engagement, becomes a powerful force for change.
