On January 23, 2025, during our Peer Group Facilitators' Seminar held at Basilan State College- Guidance and Counseling Office, we embarked on a transformative journey to deepen our understanding of mental health and strengthen our ability to support those in need. The welcome remarks from Prof. Sheila N. Flores, Alternate GC, reminded us of the power of empathyโthe ability to listen without judgment and to offer support with genuine care.
Under the guidance of Satra L. Janjaman, RGC, Director of Guidance and Counseling, we engaged in interactive workshops that equipped us with essential skills in active listening, compassionate communication, and effective client interaction. These sessions encouraged us to be more patient, open-hearted, and sensitive when dealing with individuals facing mental health challenges.
This seminar was more than just a learning experienceโit was ๐ ๐๐๐ก๐ก ๐ฉ๐ค ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ. We were reminded that empathy can heal, and even the smallest act of compassion can make a profound difference in someoneโs life. As Peer Facilitators, we carry the responsibility to create safe spaces where people feel heard, valued, and supported. Together, we stand committed to reducing stigma, promoting mental wellness, and building a more compassionate and inclusive community. ๐ฟ๐ซ
