Come and Join this year's Math Quiz Bee Contest!

Contest Mechanics:

QUALIFYING ROUND
A qualifying round shall be done in each respective classroom to identify the contestants for the quiz bee. There will be 10 (ten) participants per year level.

QUIZ PROPER

A. Format
- The contest will consist of three (3) rounds: Easy, Average and Difficult.
- Questions will be in multiple-choice, true or false and short answer format.
- Each question will have corresponding points.
- The group/s to answer correctly will have the point.

B. Reading
- The question will be read twice.
- The contestants can only answer the question after the Quiz Master said the word “GO” after the second reading.

C. Time
- Time limit for each round are as follows.
Easy Round - 10 seconds
Average Round - 30 seconds
Difficult Round – 1 minute
Tie break – No time limit (first team to answer correctly will have the point)

D. Answering
- Each group will bring their own materials (whiteboard and marker or 1/8 illustration board and chalk)
- Answers must be printed legibly.
- For multiple choices, write the letter only.
- For open-ended questions, box the final answer.
- Wrong spelling is wrong.
- The group must wait for the go signal before writing their answers/solutions.
- Once the Quiz Master says “time is up”, all groups must raise their board.
- Group/s who failed to raise their board on time will be marked as incorrect.

E. Scoring
- The contest shall follow the pointing system for scoring below.
Easy Round - 1 point
Average Round - 3 points
Difficult Round - 5 points
- At the end of each round, the cumulative score of each contestant will be computed.
At the end of the contest, the team with the highest cumulative score shall be declared as Champion. The next two highest scoring groups shall be declared First Runner-up and Second Runner-up respectively.

F. Tie Breaker
In case of a tie, a clincher will be asked worth 1 point.

DISQUALIFICATION
- Use of any gadgets is prohibited.
- Any student caught in any act of cheating or any form of dishonesty shall automatically be disqualified together with their corresponding group.

Quiz Master’s decision is final.

Contest Mechanics:

ELIGIBILITY

B. Contest Proper

- Participants must solve the Sudoku puzzle as quickly and accurately as possible.
- The contest consists of three (3) rounds.
i. First round – easy puzzles
ii. Second round – medium difficulty puzzles
iii. Third round – difficult puzzles
- The time for each round will be recorded for every participant.
- The following rules must be strictly followed.
i. Each row must contain digits 1-9 without repetition.
ii. Each column must contain the digits 1-9 without repetition.
iii. Each of the 3x3 subgrids must contain digits 1-9 without repetition.
- Participants must solve the puzzles as quickly as possible. The timer starts when the game master says “GO” and stops when the participants signal completion (by raising their hand).
- Participants must solve the puzzle independently without using any calculators, notes, or outside resources.
- Each participant has only one attempt to solve the puzzle in each round.

C. Time
- The time taken to solve the Sudoku puzzles is the primary score. The recorded time of all the rounds will be used to get the average.

D. Winner
- Four (4) winners will be chosen among the participants.
- Winners will be determined by the best average solving time.

- Any violation of the contest rules or cheating will result in disqualification.
Game master’s decision is final.

Contest Mechanics:

ELIGIBILITY
- The contest is open to all students of Jose Abad Santos High School (JHS).

A. Registration
- Students who wish to participate must register with their Math teacher or to any Math Club officers.
- Registration is FREE.

B. Contest Proper
- The contest will be team battle starting from 3 discs up to 7 discs plus the tower; thus each team will be composed of six members.
The following rules must be followed STRICTLY
i. Each participants will use one HAND ONLY.
ii. Only one disc can be moved at a time.
iii. Each disc must be placed on a larger disc or an empty peg.
iv. Only the topmost disc of any stack can be moved.
v. The participant must move all the discs to the destination peg.
- Participants will not receive any external assistance (e.g., no hints or algorithm sheets).
- If the discs fall off during the competition, the participant is allowed to continue again.
- The player can restart for whatever reason.

C. Time
- The team who solve the fastest time wins.

D. Winner
- One team per grade level will be declared as winner.

DISQUALIFICATION
- Any violation of the contest rules or cheating will result in disqualification.
Game master’s decision is final.

C. Time
- Participants must finish their work within one hour and thirty minutes.

D. Judging
- The contest shall follow the judging criteria below.
i. Originality and Creativity (50%)
ii. Relevance to the theme (40%)
iii. Overall Presentation (10%)
