Mina SSLG joins Claim Your Space National Youth Summit 2026

Last April 18, the Mina Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) took part in Claim Your Space National Youth Summit 2026: The Role of Men, Women, and LGBTQIA+ in the Movement for Safe Spaces by KAWSA Philippines.

The summit was held on Microsoft Teams and Facebook Live with student councils from all over the country. We talked about the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313), LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and what we as youth can do to make our schools and communities safer for everyone.

It was a space for students to speak up, share experiences, and stand for the rights of every Filipino. Small steps like these help build a community where people feel respected for who they are.

Alave, the Riverside Echoes' Editor-in-Chief, for claiming the nationโ€™s brightest spotlight and grasping the epochal golden laurel in your hand at the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026, in the Feature Writing (English) category, at Ormoc City, Leyte, April 17.

Youโ€™ve poured your heart into this journey, overcome every challenges with grace, and proven whatโ€™s possible when passion meets commitment. To his coach, Sir Neoniel Pedutem, thank you for your unwavering support for our dear journalist. Your guidance has led him to the path he's been aching to walk on.

Alave weaved through the waves of NSPC with a thudding heart, yet a precise and composed hand and mind. He went on a head-to-head battle with each of the other journalists and took them one by one, clinching the place he had been dreaming of. You've grown; you have just made a name forever etched in history and left a legacy to our institution. The Eko family is in seventh heaven seeing you conquer another stage. Behind every great story is someone who believed in it first.
Today, we ask you to be that someone.

Minanhon Louise Bhordz Alave, together with his coach, Mr. Neoniel Pedutem, is ready to ride the tides to the Philippines' brightest stageโ€”the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2026โ€”where Alave will proudly raise not only the banner of Western Visayas, but also the pride of Iloilo Province and the Municipality of Mina. Alave will compete in the Feature Writing English category this April 13โ€“17 in Ormoc City, Leyte.

But reaching the national stage comes with a hefty price tag.

With rising travel expenses, Alave must sail through rough waters to reach the national stage. We call on our community to help our champion cross these waves and make this dream possible.

Every donationโ€”no matter the sizeโ€”is a powerful current that propels Alave forward. Join us in bringing Minaโ€™s pride to the national stage. Together, letโ€™s turn these ripples of support into a tidal wave of success.
