𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝗖𝗣𝗨 𝗖𝗖𝗦' 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗨𝗣𝗩 𝗞𝗼𝗺𝘀𝗮𝗶.𝗢𝗿𝗴'𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁.

College of Computer Studies - CPU’s programming teams "W" and "CommsCoders" won big time at the recently concluded UPV Komsai.Org's "Komsai Hack 2026: Risk Ready" hackathon event last friday, April 17, at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) Iloilo City Campus. The hackathon event gathered participating groups from all over Region VI in an all-out programming royale focused on tech solutions for disaster readiness.

Team "W" consisting of Adrian Bon Cordero (BSIT-1), Kyle Jason Bobier, Romeo Manzanilla III, and Bjorn Manzon Herrera (all BSCS-1), placed in at 2nd of the overall finals rank, bagging the 1st Runner-Up award and the "Most Innovative Hack" award for their product entry "Floodio," an offline-first disaster communication system.

Meanwhile, team "CommsCoders" consisting of Benjamin Ramos III, Elijah Mar Rosialda, Janrickz John Babac, Timothy Jorie Superficial, and John Ferwin Cari (all BSCS-2), finished at 4th place with their product entry "ResQMap," an offline-capable disaster management app.

Under the mentorship of CCS faculty member Prof. Roda Katrina E. Canatoy, MSCS, these student programmers are already looking toward future competitions. This latest victory reinforces the teams as they aim to secure further distinctions and maintain the College of Computer Studies’ reputation as a premier hub for technological innovation and excellence.

This Women's Month you're not just a Woman– you are a WOMAN.

Strong. Resilient. Empowered. A force that this world could not exist without.

Women's Month is more than a celebration; it is a reminder to pause, reflect, and be truly grateful for the women who have shaped our lives. Our mothers, who sacrificed sleep, dreams, and comfort just to see us smile. Our sisters, who stood beside us through every storm. Our grandmothers, whose quiet strength built the foundation we stand on today. And every woman in our lives, friends, mentors, colleagues, who has uplifted, inspired, and believed in us even when we couldn't believe in ourselves.

Behind every great story of success, there is a woman who made the impossible possible. Behind every unending lessons learned, is a woman who never gave up teaching it with love and warmth. Behind every scar that is healed, is a woman who offered a hand.

May this month serves as an eye opener to thank them for their sacrifices, deepen our appreciation for their strength, and may this remind us as well that honoring women is not a once-a-year occasion. But a life long commitment.

This is for every woman reading this; you are seen, younl are valued, and you are more than enough.

World Mental Health Day is celebrated every October 10 — it’s a reminder to look after our mental health and be there for each other. 💚🤍

The theme for this year, "𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 - 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀”, brings to our attention that during difficult periods, no one should be deprived of care and love.
