Presenting Entry 12:
Concept Note:
While brainstorming for the poster and comic strip, I chose Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water) because I believe that ocean conservation is a critical issue that deserves a bigger spotlight. I wanted to find something underwater that makes life better, and mangroves immediately came to mind. Mangroves are often called the "roots of the ocean" because they serve as a natural shield. Since environmental damage affects everyone regardless of where they live or who they are, my target audience is everyone. The goal is to build a shared sense of responsibility for our oceans. Planting mangroves directly helps with disaster readiness by acting as a living sea wall. Below the surface, mangrove roots hold the coastal soil together and create safe homes for young sea creatures. Above the surface, they form a lasting barrier that reduces the impact of dangerous storm waves. Planting mangroves connects ocean care with simple, effective community safety.
