Once upon a time in our class story, there was a class monitor and a creative mind. She was part of the journey — sometimes leading, sometimes learning, sometimes simply being there. She helped in her own way, added ideas in her own style, and became part of the memories we created as a class.

Today, we celebrate her birthday — a small but meaningful chapter in her own story. A reminder that growth continues, that creativity never ends, and that every person has value in the narrative of life.

Story Park wasn’t just a day filled with colorful candies and magical tales—it was a celebration of stories that taught us life’s sweetest lessons. From Oliver’s lollipop, reminding us that true joy can be found in the simplest things that surrounds us, to Strega Nona brewing her magical pot of obedience, showing us the value of listening and responsibility. The last chocolate chip cookie gently told us that friendship is always more fun when we choose to share, while the tale of the Gingerbread Man warned us to be wise and careful, because not everyone we meet has good intentions.

But beyond the candy-themed field, story-themed room, and storybook smiles, something even sweeter was happening behind the scenes. Candyland Story Park was not just about stories—it was about us. Late nights spent finishing designs, shared laughter over tiny details, moments of stress turned into inside jokes—these were the real sprinkles on top. As we worked together, a sweet friendship quietly blossomed, proving that the best part of the park wasn’t just the stories we told, but the memories we created together. 🍭✨

To teach a child to read is to give more than literacy—it is to give dignity, confidence, opportunity, and the power to shape one’s own destiny.

Through her work with an international program, Education for an Interdependent World (EDIW) and in local schools, Athria saw firsthand how limited access to literacy support affects children across communities. As she prepares to represent WVSU in the SEA Teacher Exchange Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, she carries with her a mission to learn, share, and bring home practices that can help cultivate stronger reading cultures in schools. Her response is rooted in simple yet meaningful actions. Through strengthening reading corners, encouraging volunteerism, and engaging families, she believes that reading becomes a habit nurtured both in school and at home. She believes that we can still transform generations that Read To Succeed.

Born from his own struggles with reading, Charles’ Project Pagbasa carries a mission shaped by lived experience and deep empathy. In a profession where male elementary teachers remain a rarity, he stands as a powerful reminder that compassion, patience, and literacy advocacy know no gender. His initiative moves beyond the four walls of the classroom to establish Learning Tambayans—safe, nurturing spaces where patient, one-on-one guidance helps “silent” learners rediscover their voice and confidence. Anchored in mentorship and genuine care, the project challenges the misconception that struggling readers are defined by their difficulties. Instead, it affirms that with the right support, every child can rise, lead, and author their own success story.

Together they show that when communities come together with consistency, compassion, and shared responsibility, children are given not only the skills to read, but the power to rewrite their futures.

Because together, they can turn every child into a reader, and every reader into a leader.

On February 7, 2026, the Association of General Education Students is honored to help rekindle local narratives through 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧, in partnership with WVSU-MAARAM at Brgy. Lanag, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo—nurturing pride in culture and identity for the next generation.

Stories are bridges between past and present, threads that weave communities together, and sparks that ignite hope for the future.
