Todayβs Bayluhay Forum opened our minds as our guest speaker shared the real story behind the Bayluhay tradition. We learned about the journey of the Borneans, the true background of Makatunaw, and the events that shaped our early history. The forum helped us understand why the Borneans decided to leave their homeland, how they traveled to Panay, and what happened when they finally met the Atis.
Our speaker explained that the Borneans were looking for a new place to live because of problems in their own land. When they arrived, they approached Marikudo, the Ati leader, with respect and hope for peace. We also learned about the reaction of the Atis when the Borneans came. Instead of fear or anger, the Atis welcomed them with kindness and openness, which later led to a peaceful agreement between the two groups. This moment became an important part of our culture and is still remembered today through festivals and stories.
The Bayluhay Forum reminded us that our traditions are not just performances, they are connected to real people, real struggles, and real unity. It taught us that understanding our past helps us value our present and appreciate the rich history of Panay. Todayβs experience encouraged us to honor our roots, celebrate our identity, and continue keeping our culture alive for the next generations
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our guests for visiting our school and sharing their time and knowledge with us: πππ¦ππ π΄π‘π‘π¦. ππΌπΌπΈ | Don Felix Serra National High School continues its commitment to promoting a safe and healthy school community by raising awareness on the importance of staying drug-free and protecting our mental health. This campaign reminds every learner that taking care of the mind is just as important as taking care of the body, and that choosing safe habits leads to a brighter future.
The awareness activity highlighted simple but meaningful ways students can take care of themselves, avoiding harmful substances, practicing healthy coping skills, and reaching out to trusted people when experiencing stress or pressure. The school encourages everyone to support each other, show kindness, and help build an environment where every student feels understood and valued.
Together, we stand for a drug-free community and stronger mental well-being for all. A healthy mind leads to a healthy life, and a healthy school leads to a better tomorrow. ππΏ
