Make-up has gotten me through not knowing how to express myself in the right ways, it help me find confidence because I found something I’m good at, I’m self-taught, this started off as a hobby to try to keep me out negative thoughts about self-infliction, so instead of hurting my body, I would paint it and turn myself into someone new for a little while.
I’ve struggles with mental health. (Diagnosed at 13 & went to therapy every month/sometimes twice a week, depending on my ‘manic episodes’ until I turned 18)
Make-up showed me that it’s okay to express myself & love myself for the creative creepy and sometimes cute person I can be. This year has taught me so much but I’m proud I took the time out to love myself, heal, and really see me for just me alone.
16 years old me wasn’t going to let me live past 18 because I was too afraid of the risk of being alone, 18 year old me if told about life is now probably would’ve given up & 21 year old would’ve been proud that I made out of the mental cage my insecurities and past trauma built because that seemed like a foreign concept I just thought that’s how life was going to be. Nothing is set in stone, you can break out of negative thinking patterns, you can cut the toxic people out of your life, you can get away from the job that keeps promising you the respect you deserve and the second you voice your discomfort they cut cords, so leave babe, LEAVE ALL THE TOXIC IN YOUR LIFE AND CHOOSE YOURSELF, because that’s all we really have at the end of the day & when we don’t take care of ourselves, we can’t help take care of the ones we love. Check in on your own needs to maintain your mental health. Although you are in that kind of situation right now, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
REMEMBER: You are resilient and beautiful, it may not seem like it right now but good things are headed your way and you will feel warmth in your heart again.
