🚣 Do not attempt to cross flooded areas that are moving quickly like rivers, roads, and other areas prone to flooding.

🔌⚡ Maintain a safe distance from electrical wires, power lines and other electrical equipment.

☔ Wear a raincoat or carry an umbrella when you go outside.

🎒⛑ Prepare your emergency supplies, including water, flashlight, food and other important documents.

📢📰 Keep updated to the weather updates, go to the nearest evacuation center when flooding occurs.

𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙖𝙮 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙀𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢.

Sabay-sabay nating tuklasin ang mga kontribusyon ng mga bakawan sa ating lipunan:

Ang mga bakawan o mangroves ay hindi lang ordinaryong mga puno. Sila ang tinatawag na nurseries o natural na kanlungan ng ating mga yamang-dagat, na kritikal sa pagpaparami at paglago ng mga isda na nagbibigay-kabuhayan sa ating mga mangingisda (Hutchison et al., 2014).

‎Bukod dito, nagsisilbi rin silang mabisang buffer zone laban sa storm surge at malalaking alon. Sa tuwing hinahambalos ng bagyo ang baybayin, ang mga bakawan ang unang sumasalo sa lakas nito upang mabawasan ang pinsala sa mga komunidad (Spalding et al., 2010).

‎Mahalaga rin ang papel nila pagdating sa climate change. Ayon sa mga pag-aaral, ang mga bakawan ay may kakayahang sumipsip at mag-imbak ng carbon kilala bilang blue carbon nang mas mabilis kumpara sa mga karaniwang kagubatan sa lupa (Mcleod et al., 2011; Alongi, 2014).

‎Ngunit sa kabila ng mga benepisyong ito, patuloy silang nauubos dahil sa reklamasyon, pagtatayo ng mga fishpond, at kapabayaan sa kalikasan (Giri et al., 2011).

Kaya nararapat lang na sama-sama tayong mamulat at magtulungan na pangalagaan ang ating likas yaman para sa luntiang kinabukasan.

Today marks the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and a deep commitment to understanding and protecting the natural world. Your journey in Forestry has not only equipped you with knowledge and skills, but has also shaped you into a steward of our environment someone who recognizes the value of every tree, every ecosystem, and every living thing that depends on them.

There were long days in the field under the sun, countless hours studying, and challenges that tested your patience and determination. Yet through it all, you remained grounded like the forests you care for resilient, adaptable, and continuously growing. You chose a path that goes beyond personal success; you chose a calling that contributes to the greater good of our planet and future generations.

As you step forward into a new chapter, may you carry with you the lessons you’ve learned both inside and outside the classroom. May you continue to advocate for sustainable practices, protect our natural resources, and inspire others to value and care for the environment. 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹) under the summit theme “𝗬𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗚: 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆.” The undisputed 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 “𝗬𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻,” was produced by a dynamic crew of forestry and agroforestry students from Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College. Directed by 𝗜𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝘆𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝗿. 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮, with key contributors 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗮, 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝘆𝗸𝗮 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲, the film dove deep into the living connection between forests, mangroves, sea turtles, and coastal communities in Barangay Bia-o and Barangay Suso.

Shot on location with raw, unfiltered voices from the frontlines, “Yaman ng Katubigan” didn’t just document nature — it ignited social consciousness, proving that Philippine forests are not only ecological treasures but powerful engines for inclusive economic growth.
