Information Awareness Campaign and Community Responder’s Training at Baringcucurong National High School
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), through the leadership of 2LT Jeremy V. Barroga (INF) PA, conducted an Information Awareness Campaign in support of the country’s efforts to safeguard sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea, alongside the facilitation of a Community Responder’s Training on Basic Life Support (BLS) at Baringcucurong National High School.
The activity aimed to broaden the knowledge of students about the territorial challenges in the West Philippine Sea and the AFP’s ongoing initiatives to uphold national security and protect Philippine sovereignty. Through discussions and lectures, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the importance of unity, vigilance, and patriotism in facing these pressing national concerns.
In addition to the awareness campaign, the AFP also spearheaded a Basic Life Support training, equipping participants with essential skills on proper emergency response, first aid for wounds and fractures. This initiative forms part of the AFP’s continuing effort to strengthen community preparedness, ensuring that citizens are capable of responding to emergencies and saving lives in times of crisis.
2LT Barroga emphasized the value of empowering youth, stating that “security is not just the duty of the Armed Forces but a shared responsibility that begins with awareness and readiness.”
The event reflects the AFP’s dual role of protecting national sovereignty and supporting community development, bridging military service with civic responsibility. Through programs such as these, the AFP fosters stronger ties with local communities while preparing citizens to become resilient, informed, and proactive partners in nation-building.
