In honor of International Women’s Month, the MSU-IIT Kalilang Traditional Music Ensemble presents a special musical showcase.

Join us as we celebrate the power and grace of M’ranao Kulintang—honoring the women who serve as our culture bearers, leaders, and artisans.

In celebration of the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 and in pursuance of the Presidential Proclamation No. 683, s. 1991, bearing the theme "Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting"-- the MSU-IIT Center for Culture and Arts, in collaboration with the Kataas-taasang Sanggunian ng Mag-aaral (KASAMA), proudly presents:

This isn't just a performance; it’s a movement of solidarity. This performance serves as a gathering point for our Donation Drive through music, dance, and theatre. We reach out our hands (𝘼𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖) to help our fellowmen recover and find hope once again.

On December 1st, 2025, the Kalilang Traditional Music Ensemble successfully conducted its 2nd annual show, the Ka-kawing, at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium, marking it as Kalilang’s successful first foray into the world of theatre and acting. The Ka-kawing is the traditional marriage rite of the Meranaws. It is distinct— made beautiful by the colorful celebrations present in the joyous wedding alongside the series of meaningful steps embarked by not just the betrothed souls, but also their families, who, too, would unite under the holy vows.

Indeed, from the heart’s first steps into infatuation, into a blessed union overseen by the excited community, in order for something to be great, it must overcome the trials of becoming. This year’s annual show expanded the Kalilang’s horizons. Now, alongside the expansion of its music and dance through the show’s inclusion of the flute and the Papanok, a Meranaw dance that emulates the fluttering wings of morning birds, it also ventured into theatre: acting, dialogue, setting, distinct characters, and a heartwarming narrative.

Kalilang’s own performers were put to the ultimate test of endurance and dedication, and, truly, their near-daily efforts shone brighter than the purest of gold. With less than a month of preparation, the challenge of the stage loomed larger with every passing day. However, with the joined hands of all members— those who appeared in the spotlight and those who worked to support everyone who did— the show was nothing less than magical. A romantic display, in every sense of the word.

The Kalilang would also like to extend its thanks to the attendees, whose presence marked the show as a success. Thank you all for making the Ka-kawing show possible. See you all next time, and catch us at our next performance.
