Alhamdulillah, Hafsa’s mother has successfully undergone surgery and is now under close monitoring as she begins her recovery.

At 63 years old, she has spent many years serving as a public school teacher, dedicating her life to educating the youth of her community. Today, she is the one in need of our support.

We have raised ₱6,682.65 so far, and we are deeply grateful for every contribution. The family is currently facing two major expenses: ₱250,000 for the professional fees related to the surgery, which must be paid directly, and over ₱300,000 for the hospital bill, which they are still trying to cover through a guarantee letter.

This drive is focusing on helping raise the ₱250,000, as this is the amount that urgently needs to be settled by the family. They continue to seek support for both as they go through this critical recovery period.

Assalaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh.

MIMSA, in collaboration with Al-Burooj Square, launches a 5-Day Emergency Donation Drive for Hafsa Diaz’s mother, a public school teacher at Poona Piagapo Central Integrated School who urgently needs a ₱250,000 life-saving surgery. She is currently confined at Capitol University Medical Center.

Despite earnest efforts and repeated attempts to seek assistance from various government institutions, private organizations, and possible support systems, the family remains unable to secure the full amount required for the scheduled surgical procedure.

Medical findings indicate that the operation — a pericardial window procedure followed by critical post-operative ICU care — is both urgent and time-sensitive, where delay or inability to proceed significantly reduces the patient’s chances of survival. In this regard, the situation presents not only a medical concern but also a humanitarian urgency that requires immediate collective response.

In the spirit of raḥmah and ukhuwwah, we call upon everyone to extend help. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “𝗪𝗵𝗼𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.”

In times of trials, what should a believer do?

Muhammad ibn Saalih al-Uthaymeen (may Allāh have mercy on him) explained that the Messenger of Allāh (blessings and peace be upon him) warned us about trials that would be like the darkness of night, so severe that a person may be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by the evening. We ask Allāh to keep us safe and firm.

This happens because a person may sell their religion for worldly gain. And worldly gain is not limited to wealth alone; rather, it includes every form of worldly pleasure—status, leadership, desires, relationships, and anything that distracts the heart from the truth.

Thus, those who turn away from their faith within a short span of time are those who have exchanged their religion for something temporary.

So in the face of trials, the believer must hold firmly to their faith, turn sincerely to Allāh, and constantly seek refuge in Him from trials and temptations.

Allāhumma thabbit qulūbanā ‘alā dīnik.
(O Allāh, keep our hearts firm upon Your religion.)

Alhamdulillah! Another step has been taken towards unity among the Muslim Filipino Community, April 8, 2026.

The MSU-IIT Muslim Students Association, in partnership with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos - Region X, successfully delivered a meaningful and interactive symposium amongst its participants, titled, “Weaving Identities: A Project For Intercultural and Intra-faith Dialogues in Muslim Filipino Communities” within the MSU-IIT Mini Theater last April 8, 2025.

Gathering individuals of different backgrounds and cultures, this event has reminded the Muslim Filipino Community of its shared history spanning across several centuries, the community’s challenges, and what further steps can be taken toward continued social cohesion among the Muslim Filipino Community and beyond. This event also included ice breakers and Q&A portions to strengthen connections between the participants and expand their knowledge.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to our invited resource speakers for sharing their knowledge and insights, enhancing further understanding of the Muslim Filipino Community and paving the way toward lasting peace. During the event, Prof. Tirmizy Abdullah presented the Bangsamoro’s shared culture and history across multiple centuries.

Right after, Prof. Jashim Abdulrahman tackled the issues and challenges that the Muslim Filipino Community face— some of which can even threaten to destroy the very cohesion that binds the community today— and what measures can be taken to strengthen this bond more. Lastly, Shaykh Abduljabbar Montaner reminded its participants how Islam can promote social cohesion through their belief, practice and ethics, strengthening further the understanding of Muslims as a whole.

We also extend our sincerest gratitude to the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos - Region X for making this event possible with their continued support from start to finish.

And finally, we would like to thank every one of our participants for taking part in this meaningful and interactive initiative. Your enthusiasm and commission to partake in this dialogue for a better future through unity among the Muslim Filipino Community truly inspired us all.

May all the knowledge and wisdom shared and gained from this vital conversation serve as a vital step for unity and lasting peace. All praise be to Allah SWT for His permission to make this event happen and for His never-ending blessings. TabarakAllāh !! 💚

There is a quiet emptiness that follows the departure of Ramadhan. Yet beyond this departure lies a greater test: steadfastness. For sincerity is not measured by intensity alone, but by continuity after the momentum fades.

Allah, the Most High, warns us not to be like the woman who spun her thread firmly, only to unravel it after it had gained strength (1). Such is the likeness of those who strive in Ramadhan, binding themselves to acts of worship, only to loosen them once the month has passed. Shall we labor to draw near to Allah, only to drift away again?

Indeed, Ramadhan was a blessed guest—but Shawwal, too, is a gift. More importantly, our Rabb is the Lord of all months. It is therefore unfitting that we become devoted in one season and neglectful in another.

Thus, in the remaining days of Shawwal, we preserve our deeds through continuity:

First, fasting six days of Shawwal, as the Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever fasts Ramadhan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he has fasted for a lifetime.” (2).

Second, maintaining charity in all its forms—not only through wealth, but through small, sincere acts: even a smile, for “your smile for your brother is charity” (3); keeping ties of kinship (4); easing another’s burden, for “Allah aids the servant so long as he aids his brother” (5); and showing kindness in daily interactions, for every good deed is charity (6).

Third, remaining consistent in Qiyām al-Layl, even if it is only two rak‘ah between ‘Ishā’ and Fajr, for “the best prayer after the obligatory prayers is the night prayer” (7), and “the most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if small” (8).
Fourth, continuing our recitation of the Qur’an, even if only a page a day, knowing that “whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a good deed, and each good deed is multiplied by ten” (9).

Above all, we guard our hearts, turning to Allah with the du‘ā: “يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَىٰ دِينِكَ” — “O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion” (10). For the hearts are in His control alone. May Allah make us steadfast upon His religion throughout our lives. Ameen.

Are you ready to weave identities?

In a diverse community like the Muslim Filipinos, the emphasis on differences and the absence of dialogue have often challenged peaceful coexistence and social cohesion, despite the shared history and faith. Allah ﷻ reminds us: “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” (Surah Al-Imran 3:103). To attain peace, gaps must be bridged, bonds must be strengthened, and the ummah must be unified.

The Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology, through MSU-IIT Muslim Students Association (MIMSA) proudly presents, “𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗔𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮-𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀,” in partnership with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)– Northern Mindanao. Led by experts in history, law, and religious studies, this symposium is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of shared history, culture, faith, and identity among Muslim Filipinos. This cordially invites 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗼-𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝘀, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, creating a space for understanding, appreciation, and dialogue.
